I had such a wonderful experience at Caringbah Bunnings today. Rachael from Paint and store coordinator Mel went above and beyond to help our school with the construction of our new Friendship Bench sign. I am so grateful for their support, professionalism and kindness. It may have been a small gesture on their behalf but it meant a great deal to me and the ripple effect of kindness that this sign will have on our local school children… thank you ladies! x
My experience with Bunnings Warehouse Caringbah following a serious incident involving a Swiss+Tech torch has permanently changed my perception of the Bunnings brand.nnThe Swiss+Tech lithium battery catastrophically failed while charging in my home. This wasn’t a battery that simply overheated. It appeared to be disintegrating, emitting thick, acrid and noxious smoke that rapidly filled my bedroom. Concerned about exposure to the fumes, I spent 3–4 hours at St George Hospital and remained awake for hours afterwards, fearing delayed breathing complications. I still shudder to think what the consequences may have been had the incident gone unnoticed.nnI cooperated fully throughout. Despite Caringbah not being my nearest Bunnings store, I attended there at my own expense, returned the product and assisted with their investigation. Management processed the refund, but a refund for a defective and potentially unsafe product is simply the minimum required by law.nnTo be fair, Bunnings initially expressed relief by email that I was safe and apologised for what had occurred. Unfortunately, those words ultimately proved hollow because they were never reflected in action. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, distress, lost time and expense I had experienced, no expression of gratitude for my cooperation, and not even a modest symbolic gesture of goodwill.nnWhat I found most disappointing was that, when I later took the time to respectfully explain why I felt let down by the experience, my email was met with complete silence. It had been sent not only to store management, but also copied to a more senior compliance representative who had been part of the communication.nnNo acknowledgement. No response. No courtesy.nnFor me, that silence spoke louder than the original apology. It left me with the profound impression that empathy extended only as far as procedure required and that customer care ended where legal obligation ended.nnIf I were a senior manager of the company and was reading this, I would want to know why a customer who experienced a frightening product failure in his own home, attended hospital, cooperated fully with the investigation process and then provided honest feedback about feeling let down was met with silence. In my view, that silence was shameful.nnBunnings Warehouse Caringbah fulfilled its minimum legal obligations. Beyond that, I was left questioning whether the values of empathy, gratitude and genuine customer care still have any place within the brand.
Get everything I need, this branch is quite big, clean tidy and organised.
Great experience at Bunnings, went to get my morning coffee and got served by a nice little Filipino woman named Allyza. Her coffee was amazing!!!! Definitely deserves a raise….
Good luck getting anyone to serve you. The staff will stand in the aisle and still ignore you. Man I miss Mitre 10
