A fun day out :nnWe did the Esk - Toogoolawah stretch 19km each way.nnSome tips/things to note:nnGood track mostly flat easy riding though surface varies see pics so puncture risk may be worth considering as there are no stops / service stations etc and it may be a long walk!nnWe rode e-bikes with a dog trailer, fence passes were all wide enough for the trailer.nnThere are a few tank water stops though they note “not for drinking” so suggest taking some with.nnEsk pub is a great option for food and vibe. Dog friendly and put fans out which was much appreciated. Also a couple of good coffee options in Esk. Coffee options in toogoolawah were minimal. Pub looked ok however didn’t try as we were there pre lunch.nnKeen to do more of the trail however may need to stretch my comfort zone and buy some padded bike pants… may be a few days before my next ride…
A really nice trail, with the station museums very well maintained and a pleasant stop whilst on the trail. Dogs are welcome for most of the trail and around the small station. Plenty of information in the stations highlighting the history of the rail network and surrounding area.
We have done a few of the BVRT's now, and so far they've been in good condition and well maintained.nWe are planning to do all of them over time.
A lovely Rail Trail to ride, with or without a mountain bike. The scenery is beautiful and you can enjoy cows, horses, kangaroos and magpies out and about. Refreshments are available at many of the small towns along the route, plus accomodation. I can highly recommend riding this. I’ve been riding it for ten years and I’m not tired of it yet!
