"Little more than an hour's drive from Melbourne takes you to the state's richest wildflower habitat. Set in a low range of mountains dissected by rocky gullies, the unusual geology of the Brisbane Ranges National Park has preserved plants that have long since vanished from other parts of the region. There are a number of options for bushwalking ranging from short walks to three-day walks. This park is also popular for picnicking, scenic drives and camping."

Great place to explore and learn about the gold history of the town, explore the hike trails, check out the old church, courthouse etc. Nice picnic spots available as well. Great place to bring the family for an outing and it's only 30mins from Geelong.
We hiked Beards Gully & Deadmans Track. A bit deceiving from far. Fantastic views but very hard track. Follow the river as there is no defined track closer to it.
What a historic place to go. History +. Walk around the beautiful tracks and learn about this once gold town. Walk along the river and taken in nature at its best. Listen to the sounds of birds and the wind through trees. Love love love this place. Bring a picnic and enjoy the outdoors.
Fun terrain to explore, short and long trails hidden with in. Highly recommend taking a picnic in with you because there's lots of spots that you just want to sit and take in all the serenity Only a 30mins drive from geelong before you land in gorgeous bushland.
Great place to visit, lots of history of the old goldfields the cemetery and the old courthouse, open most weekends and lots of barbeques area's
It's a bit like stepping back in time.
Nice place to hike but not well maintained.
It's good just more information needed and the tracks are not that clear.
Amazing walks... only did a few kms but will definitely be back to do the whole track.
As the thrilling landscape swept by, dust bloomed from the wheels of our motor car, a pure paradox of which we were part. A modern necessity engulfed in the magnitude of something ancient. One felt an attraction immediately, this was a place of something still untouched, there are still unknowns. The rich smell of gum smoke clung to the valleys and new growth could be seen bursting from the blackened soils. The pollution of our society yet to fully grip the mountain. We must enjoy our conditions while they remain.
