Best place to eat ! especially if you've been away from home for so long and need your Maori/Islander food fix ! Not a good place if you're trying to diet; I'll start next week. Ordered the Island plate, Hangi pie and Kalo pie. 10/10 ! Service was mean, Kai was mean, Sounds and atmosphere was mean !
While driving on the motorway I made a last minute decision to drive off in your direction for a famous pie and I was not disappointed. Check this pie out!!! Yummy boil up pie and many others to try out. Positive vibes from staff I will definitely be back and have a seat next time.
Went here for lunch recently with colleagues. It was actually a colleague who recommended this place and I was keen to check it out as he raved about the pies. There's outdoor and indoor seating we got a table outside. I was pleased with my choice of the palusami pie - a great twist on an island staple - it took awhile to come out as everyone else had their meals come out before my pie but it was worth the wait. I also ordered an almond slice to take away. A tad overpriced for the portion but it was tasty. Friendly staff and good selection of sweet treats in the cabinet. Location is not as close to town as I'd like it to be but this isn't going to stop me from going back to try the rest of the menu. It'll be my go-to place when I'm missing Pacific Island cuisine.
Absolutely beautiful space to enjoy a quaint meal with friends or family. Both inside and outside eating space, but it is the polynesian twist on food that is the star! Lu'au or Pasami Pie Delicious! Or Koko samoa Cupcakes! Make sure you try the peanut butter and snickers Shake
Came here thanks to a friend’s recommendation and got the pulasami pie which was incredible, totally different to bog standard mince and cheese, my son stole half of it instead of eating his ham and cheese toastie and insisted I give this place a 5 star review. The raw fish was nice too, and next time we’ll be back to try the smoked fish pie.
Absolutely wonderful food and service provided at the Blue Rose Café. Great atmosphere. We sat outside at the rear of the Cafe. The greenery gives it an 'Oasis' kinda feel. The all day main "Taro and Luau" was perfect! The food came out fast, it was awesome and sooooo delicious! Highly recommend this Cafe hands down!
Being kiwis who reside in Australia and have known of this place by word of mouth from friends and families. So this was one place on our list of must go to when we return home for our next holiday. We came last year around June 2021 and the customer service was exceptional! It was also fast as well, coffees came out quick which were delicious by the way. And our big group all ordered something different from the amazing looking menu which we all thoroughly enjoyed as it had left us scraping our plates because it was scrumptious! So our first experience was 10/10 for us that we’ve given so much praise about this beautiful hidden gem for all the kiwis living where we are in Australia to add to their places to visit when they return for a holiday! Now since being back in Akl for another holiday, this place was first on our to do list. Must get pies. I was craving my fav taro lamb and cream cheese pie which they didn’t have, but it was totally fine as they still had the palusami pie available so we got those and boil up pie. One issue we experienced today which kind of made us question whether we should bring our huge family back here again as my partner and I walked in around lunchtime today after our walk and just craving a pie… I honestly don’t know if this staff member was just not having a good day or she must’ve dealt with someone crazy before hand but we instantly went from 100 to zero real quick with our experience there today. I pride myself on giving praise on customer service where it’s due no matter what everywhere we go!! But today was something else, this one staff member and her attitude ruined the rest of our experience there!! We walked in, only for her to shout are you dining in or takeaway?! Not even an acknowledgment or eye contact… Which we proceeded to respond with takeaway please and to then she replies what are you after.. Just the whole Vibe and tone we got was totally poor and negative.. She just looked like she didn’t want to be there or looked unhappy which then made us feel uncomfortable. But because we drove from Glen Eden I wasn’t going to just walk out. Nothing else was wrong but just thought I would comment on the team member you had at the counter or the front door is definitely not someone you want to have on the front line to serve your customers if you want them to return. It’s a beautiful place but having someone with that negative attitude and service is not going to work. Even when someone else had walked in after us and asked her for a specific pie and she replies “Nope there’s no more next time you wanna pie, come early!” And walks off. ‍ Either she’s in the wrong industry or we just caught her on a bad day.
It's a must do experience, Excellent service, food is delicious at a worldwide standard, cafe prices a little bit high, healthy, places is clean, I love it's locally owned, with both Cook Islands n Maori twist.
Very popular store!! On street parking. Purchase to go or sit down in the seated part. Pies of many varieties including hangi pie, boilup pie, Pisupo pie plus the most delicious cakes!! Koko Samoa chocolate cake is yummy!!!Food: 5/5
I was surprised today for my 50th birthday breakfast care of my husband and sons!! Blue Rose's Rob and his beautiful team are truly sweet and did not let on when I arrived! Not only is their food absolutely devine, delicious, huge and beautifully presented. But, the lovely setting of their Cafe and their genuine hospitality, welcoming smiles and kind words, made today just as special. The beautiful fusion of Island food with all the lovely taste and flavours I remember growing up! The palusami pie, luau, pua'a, taro, oka, for breakfast is a true treat. Just the fact that I was in the midst of such gifted food people and my beautiful family, is the highlight of reaching this milestone! Thank you so much Rob and the Aiga from Blue Rose!!
