I bought a pair of sandals that were fitted by an attendant here and turns out they are the wrong size due to not being fitted correctly. I followed the advice to wear them in down to the tee, and when I tried to return them a different attendant agreed they were the wrong size but only offered a credit note because they had been worn. I tried to explain to the attendant that they are only worn at the guidance of the first attendant but they became painful to wear hence needing an exchange. They refused to refund or find an appropriate exchange and only offered a credit note. I’d you’re not an expert in the shoes these people won’t help you. I got $222 ‘sorry for the inconvenience’ from an attendant here.
Thank you Abby for taking the time to measure my fit and getting me into my very first Birkenstock! I was also really impressed with Abby’s knowledge of Birkenstock customer service. Definitely will be back!
Came in here and found the service to be fantastic. Joey and the other staff were very welcoming and helpful with their assistance. Whilst we weren't able to get the pair of birkenstocks, we were very impressed with how attentive and friendly the staff were. Hope you enjoy your next trip overseas, Joey.

We were told bluntly that the store wasn't doing any Black Friday sales. This would have all been fine - we weren't expecting any sales, I just wanted a pair of shoes - but nobody else who entered while we were there were told of the lack of sales. It made us feel like the staff thought we weren't good enough to be in the store, and that they thought we could only afford the shoes on sale. So, we took our business elsewhere to a store that was more welcoming.
One of the worst customer service representatives that I have ever seen in my years of living. Just rude, classless and pitiful. Asked for a boston black for my size and said they don’t have any — asked if where can I check, the lady just wrote it down in a card and just threw it at the table. Classy woman I would say?
Were told by a sales attendant today 2 pairs of shoes were in stock at their store in Clifton hill. Double checked with her as it was a 30-40 minute tram ride from the city. Went there and there was no stock in either shoe. Was told by the man working at the Clifton hill store that this is a regular occurrence that staff from the Collins street store send customers to their store with no stock. 3 hours wasted for no reason. When we first walked into the Collins street store we could not get service from any of the three attendants working there we were the only customers in the store. Literally had to pick up the shoe and walk over to the counter to ask for help. Love the brand but the service sucks, not what you would expect when they are charging 200 plus for a sandal.
Unfriendly service. Clifton hill store is much better. I regret to spent my money for this unpleasant experience. Is it a strategy to make people to buy online instead?
Terrible customer service The worst customer service I’ve ever received at a shoe store - will not be returning. Will also be letting others know about this store’s appalling service. The woman who ‘assisted’ me was one of the rudest, most unhelpful and most condescending sales attendants I’ve ever encountered. She had no interest in helping anyone at all. I’ve worn Birkenstock for years, but I wanted to try on some different styles this time before buying my usual pair. I know my size in Birkenstock and I know what fits me best. This woman tried to tell me otherwise, and she basically tried to make me buy a size I wasn’t happy with. Yeah, no thanks. She became even colder and more unfriendly when I kindly disagreed with her ‘advice’ and asked to try the size that I actually wanted. Pretty sure I know what size feels comfortable for me. No smiles or warmth in this store - just hostility and an obvious loathing of customers. She didn’t look at me the entire time and barely answered to some questions regarding the sizing . I am a big fan of this brand but I’ll never go back to this store again. The shop attendant seemed to be less than interested in selling you anything. It just get ruined by the attitude and unpleasantness of the staff. There are so many lovely and kind people in Melbourne looking for jobs, please give it to someone who’d value it and care about the people walking in.
I called the Birkenstock shop recently to find out if they had in stock a pair of sandals in a size and colour I wanted to buy for a gift. I kept getting diverted to voicemail so couldn’t speak to a staff member. I went into town ‘to support local businesses during COVID’ and on entering the store started browsing to look for the sandals and also perhaps a pair for myself. I was directed to sit down and wait until somebody could assist me as all the staff were busy. I wanted to compare a few of the styles and while I was waiting, perhaps find what I wanted myself and pay and get out of there but the staff weren’t happy with me opening shoeboxes to look at them. When somebody did assist me I found out they did not have one pair of sandals in the store that was of the size I needed, let alone the style or colour. If they had answered the phone they could have told me this and saved me a trip into town and their displeasure at me opening boxes. The staff are probably knowledgeable and helpful if the shop isn’t busy but not allowing customers to wander around and browse the stock they have out limits customers enjoyment of the shopping experience. I went home and bought the pair I wanted online, something I will do in future to avoid this shop.
