The cream lamington, jelly slice and Bavarian cream ring were yummy. My kids like it as for me, I don't like very sweet dessert, but turned out the custard in the cream ring is just nice. The atmosphere was relaxing. Will definitely come here again for breakfast if time permits.
Having just returned from a visit to New Zealand, It's evident how the Australian country bakeries are just lacking the finishing polish. All the baked goods, pies, lamingtons, just fall well below short in awe.
For some reason Ballarat has stopped using crockery - manger tells me it is too hard to keep place clean this time of year. Hire someone, it's not like you're giving stuff away... At these prices you'd be best served by making people comfortable and eating off a piece of cardboard doesn't do it for me.
Great bakery . The bee sting was just amazing. I ate it before I could take a photo . If you haven't tried a bee sting before do yourself a favour and go try one . The chocolate eclair looks so delicious The coffee was ok .
Worst sausage roll I have had anywhere in Australia. The pastry was chewy, the filling soggy and soft and the whole thing was flat like it had been squashed...never again! I couldn't eat it but paid 70c extra to buy a real sausage roll photo on right at the local farmers market....what a sausage roll should be!
Had a delicious wrap, pastie, custard tart and a pretty good milkshake! Staff were friendly and didn't mind making a fresh wrap because they were out! Really good bakery! Highly recommend!
This is just the bakery I've been looking for! Great atmosphere in heritage building, plenty of seating, nice staff who were very helpful and actually put cream real cream in my lamington when there were none left ready made. They have off street parking when all of Ballarat is meter parking. Prices are excellent. Wow! Oh and a 'mug' of coffee is actually large with the mug being huge.5 stars. PS. And they close at 5.30pm not like most other cafes here that close at 2.30-3.00pm!
It was a breezing cold in the morning. Before I started working in the CBD, I thought I needed a quick fix for my sleepy morning. Beechworh Bakery was a great choice to grab a cup of coffee. I preferred a large cup of Long Black. My coffee was extra hot with fruity taste. I liked it. Service was not too bad and quite pleasant due to less crowd. Happy customer here. I think Beechworth has been great with undeniably delish products, however, customer service was a big flaw here. Kitchen people did a wonderful job on the range of baked goods such as pie and desert. Staff at the front were quite a big dissatisfaction when they were dealing with a lot of customers. Management may need to find a new bunch of frontline staff who are supposed to be bubbly, service minded, and patient towards hungry customers. These days, long historic fame is not enough to build royalty among customers. You need a consistency in service, hygiene, quality and of course management.
Ned Kelly Pie is delicious and unique at this famous bakery in this regional town
Huge bakery with lots of choices - for the sweet or savoury tooth! Choices range from pies, pastries, donuts, toasties, éclairs, wraps, sandwiches, scones and coffee. Our favourite was the Apple Turnover and of course the Beesting! Not too sweet. Just perfect. Smooth and delicious. Ned Kelly's pie is packed full of meat filling. Lots of seating places. We were at the bakery twice today!! If you want a calm and peaceful breakfast while reading the papers with your coffee, you have to be there around 7am onwards. Plus you get a whole range of choices. We came back a second round around noon time, it was super busy and many of the popular choices were sold out. A simple place to feed all different taste buds. Reasonably priced.
