Was driving by on Saturday when the name “Avial” jumped out at us. There can only be one place in the world that name can be from, I told my wife and it was agreed that we would do dinner on Sunday. Checked a couple of reviews and these were mixed, but we decided to bite the bullet and went in anyway. 

We ordered Kerala Porotta and two chicken dishes, one being the Trivandrum Chicken Roast and the second, Chicken pepper fry, which I requested to be made spicier. It did take a while for the order to arrive, but since it was freshly prepared and we were in no hurry on a Sunday evening, I didn’t mind. 

The reason for 5 stars is, it is not often that I get to taste authentic Indian fare in Australia. Most places dish out bastardised versions of Indian dishes and they certainly have their clientele, but I yearn for the authentic stuff, as it is supposed to be made in India(Kerala, in this instance). In this, Avial did not disappoint. Both curries were nice, the pepper fry taking the cake. Porotta was maybe a bit crispy on the outside, but tasty nonetheless. 

Definitely recommended, but ask about wait times if you are in a hurry.

I recently visited Goldcoast with a group of myI ndian family friends  from NSW and they were all keen to have Kerela food and I was really feeling proud. We got there at the restaurant for the dinner after a long tiring day at the theme parks, hoping to have a great dining experience. The friends from other states  picked a lot of interesting dishes described on the menu and the waiter continuously enticed them with his customer service skills in Maglish. We were all seated  for about half an hour and the two men who were at the desk disappeared  into the background for a while. Families with kids were getting impatient as they were hungry and they asked me to find out about the delay. Being the only malayalee in the group I went in to have a chat with the duo and to my shock he was bold enough to tell me that their cook was on holidays and they don't have any of the means to prepare the items we had ordered. For a moment I thought he was playing a practical joke on me, but soon I realised that was a fact. The whole group abused me and vowed never to step in any Malyalee restaurant ever again. What a pathetic show guys,if you didn't have your cook why the f....do you open  up your shop.please this is the limit...shame guys.I will never recommend anybody for this wonderful experience at AVIAL....stay away please .
