Aquarium Empire

Terrible customer service! After spending over $600 in total in this store, I have taken back a $25 air pump which I explained was not working properly and became very noisy after a while. The manager was incredibly rude and advised first of all that as he couldn't see any fault the manufacturer would not accept this return, and after I insisted I did not want to use this unit again he offered to test it for a week and see if it would work, without offering me any replacement air pump. Even after i offered to pay any difference for a different brand he refused and then advised me it was probably not strong enough , or the air stone i had was not working, both of which HE sold me two weeks earlier. I can understand that the manufacturer may not accept this back but considering I had spent quite a lot of money in this store and would continue to do so in the future I was shocked at his no care attitude and rudeness over a $25 item which he sold me. I have better things to do than worry about returning such a cheap item. It's an inconvenience for me to even come back to return it so i definitely did not want to wait a week while he "tested" it to then have him tell me he didn't believe me. What made it worse was the fact that he kept saying the manufacturer would not accept it back and then just walked away! I didn't buy this from the manufacturer, I bought it from this shop so I expect this shop to assist me with this issue. There are plenty of other aquariums around, I will not shop here again.

Staff is very helpful and also store is big - have many tanks. It is clean. Highly recommend this place.

Not bad. Great selection of aquarium accessories and tanks, average selection of fish. Staff are reasonably knowledgeable but uninterested.

Good variety of fish, even got some rare ones, awesome staff and service, but overpriced. One of the big problems in the store is that on the tanks, fish are in there without a label, or the label says there's supposed to be a fish in the tank that isn't in the tank. So when you visit you have to already know what fish you're looking for, its name, and what it looks like. they're on the higher end of the price scale, so I suggest when visiting this store it's important to know your prices. When I asked staff how much for a Goby Bumblebee, the sales assistant informed me they were $20 each. Whether he simply guessed or this was the actual price I don't know as there was no label on the tank. What I do know is I would expect to pay no more than $5 for a common Bumblebee Goby. Which I did pay in the next store I visited. Other than these two things I had a very pleasant experience.

Very disapointing, for such a large store with it's own quarantine facilities the stock available is over priced and very limited. This store was much better run by the previous owner who had much more idea of how to care for both salt water & freshwater fish/animals. I wouldn't waste my time visiting this store where parking is very hit or miss off such a busy road. The fish shop at Hurstville (near the library) is just so much better, the staff are much more knowledgeable & helpful, and the prices are mucg more reasonable.
