Fine dining, great location, professional friendly and helpful staff. The food was amazing and the wines matched perfectly (even a few surprises - but I wont give away the surprise) Highly recommended for that special night out - we celebrated our wednesday anniversary and it was just perfect.

We came to the Barossa on holidays. We wanted a good fine dining experiences so decided to go with a hatted restaurant. However, the only hatted restaurant in the area was closed. After some research we decided on Appalations based on customer reviews and industry reviews. But no hat. On arrival we were impressed by the service, wine list and location which are wonderful. The sommelier was fantastic. We the started the 4 course degustation and our disappointment began. The jamon and basil first course was disappointing. The jamon lacked flavour and the medley of tomatoes overpowered by the basil dressing. The second course included undercooked chicken. The most flavoursome thing was the nougat we received with our coffee. And that wasn’t made in house. Overall the experience was disappointing. I understand restaurants wanting the ingredients speak for themselves, however, the palette was all wrong across the menu. To achieve a hat they need only to change the head chef!

I managed to get a booking at the Appellation Restaurant without too much of an advanced date. The four courses were well prepared and the pairing was a perfect showcase of wines found across the Barossa. The Roussane that was paired with my rock lobster was excellent. Come here with time on your hands to graze and appreciate the wealth of knowledge their sommelier have.
