A lovely little reserve. Very flat, not really pram friendly as it's loose ground to walk on. It's pretty with all the wild flowers now too! I found it a bit confusing, so took a picture of the map which made it much easier to navigate with!
A great public space with native bushland and historical interest. The lower car park is close to amenities, toilets and picnic shelters. The trails crisscross the reserve, some for horses. The top southern car park is best for quick access to see Sugars Quarry from below. From the top car park, take the track west to the quarry and river; keep heading straight don't follow the bitumen track curving right follow the dirt track over the rise water tank on right and keep heading straight. Follow the track down the hill to the quarry and information board. From here you can see the Brisbane river, the quarry workings and the lookout at the top of the quarry. When you walk back up, at the top of the hill, turn left to follow the trail to the lookout with panoramic views including the Brisbane River. You can keep walking in a clockwise direction till you get to the lower northern carpark ... or keep walking through to where you started.
You can't see too much from the official lookout but check out the hidden one along the grassed area on the north side of the official lookout. If you are afraid of dogs I suggest you skip this place, as people tend to walk theirs' off-lead here.
It's a great place with multiple gazebos, exersize equipment, and multiple pathways you can take. Animals and horses are allowed.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
There were a sufficient number of koalas. Its proximity to The Reserve restaurant was also pleasing.
Great place to walk the dogs. Easy to follow paths, most in shade. Toilets, covered picnic tables and bbq's clean and well kept. Water for dogs. Doggy bags would improve it. Great views of quarry and Brisbane river. A little bit of serenity in a busy city.
A well known hot spot for birding in the Brisbane area, between the months of March through to October
Dogs on leashes allowed. Many kms of trails mean you can walk all day. Or you can laze around in the picnic areas.
Nice 1/2 hour circuit. Our dog loves it also. But it needs a dog poo bin at the 2nd parking lot.
Gorgeous place to explore. A lot of bushland, birds and butterflies.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
