Very nice old hotel, steeped in history. Hosts and locals made us feel very welcome. Rooms next door a little dated but clean and bed was very comfortable. Good shower. Dinner superb. Lambs fry and bacon for breakfast HIGHLY recommended!

I had booked one night at the Ancient, turned up at the alocated time....a meal was ordered for 2 (40 minutes later)...it finally arrives but unfortunately both our chicken burger chickens were raw....sent back. No offer of compensation, just told we don't have to pay for that meal......we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Not very happy about the meal fiassco. we did end up staying the night in their very good accommodation......we had thought we might get a free breakfast or something but nothing happened.

Great service, food was quick to arrive and tasty. Has a nice outdoor area and a relaxed atmosphere.
