Welcome to India Garden Authentic Indian Cuisine and enjoy the ultimate experience in fine India dining. We have been serving the people from Dunedin with superb traditional Indian Cuisine for over 12 years.
The relaxed, friendly atmosphere of our restaurants together with excellent service is something we take great pride in. We serve Both North and South Indian food so you can really enjoy the genuine flavours.
For centuries Indian people have perfected the skill with spices to transform often materials to ambro-sia. The use of spices however does not mean they are used in vast amounts, nor does it mean that all Indian food is extremely hot and spicy, as many believe. The dishes can be as hot or as mild as the individual chooses, since this is a matter of personal taste.

Delicious food and good portion sizes. Reasonable service, but wait times can be on the longer side. Prices have recently been increased. Vegetarian options: Section of the menu dedicated to vegetarian meals and sides.
My and my friends ordered some butter chicken and it was the worst I've ever had. Unfortunately there was no space to sit so we had it take away and only found out when we got home otherwise we would have returned it straight away. It was really sweet and didn't taste like butter chicken at all didn't taste like anything but sugar, maybe really sweet tomato soup. Maybe it was just a bad day because there's a lot of good reviews here. Really disappointing experience
The fish in the fish masala we ordered, wasn’t cooked at all. It was really raw. This isn’t ceviche, it is a curry. It should be well cooked. The prawn curry was really really sweet. The only good thing at this place was a nice customer service from the front desk girl.
Beyond disappointed. Wish we read the reviews prior to eating here. We were passing through on motorcycle trip, and was not easy to look up reviews while pearched on bikes. Ordered lamb madras, and brother ordered a vegetarian meal. They came out tasting exactly the same. Exactly. And as a madras, well was like no madras I've ever seen, nor eaten before. Was like they used the same sauce for the two meals, yet the meals were completely different. Asked MEDIUM HEAT, what a mistake. Was so stupidly hot, we could hardly eat it. And i eat at alot of indian restaurants, and like some heat. Have chilli flakes on most of my meals. Would have been the same heat as asking for a HOT vindaloo at any Indian restaurant around christchurch. When eating the odd peice of lamb, i got worried. Well, 45min after leaving, i was on the side of the road with it all coming back out, burning my throat again, but this time burning my nostrils.. ended up a grueling ride to our next destination, being mt cook campgrounds due to stopping at this particular restaurant. Gutted. On the bright side, Young kiwi, possibly Australian girl serving us was lovely. Super friendly, exuded niceness. But rated service so low due to the indian chap whom took our order.
Restaurant was quite busy but they still got the meals out in a decent enough time. Mango chicken and Daal tadka were great. The naan was slightly different than normal but that’s not a bad thing.Recommended dishesNaan
Wanted to eat in but wasn't able to so had take away. Meals were cooked within time frame. Yummy meals - I had prawn Malabari with rice. Hubby had lamb Korma. Then got a chocolate Naan. Vegetarian options: vegetarian dishes on the menu
Decent meal, but found chef tō be very lazy. Uses big pieces of chicken instead of bite size pieces. Hence the reason for 3 star. And the meal was very pasty and rushed, the curry unbalanced. Another disappointing takeaway experience in otago. Premises and staff were lovely.
tandoori chicken was the best i have ever had tonight. all the food was delicious. but take it easy on the suger. too much suger in the butter chicken and narn bread starting to taste like pancakess. to much sugar for kids over loaded. too sweet like eating lollies.
Curries were nice but beef was not available even though menu said it was. Got given weird plum sauce instead of mango chutney and it was on the expensive side for takeaway curry.
Very tasty food, well presented. And the lady taking orders sorry didn’t get her name did a marvellous job balancing incoming and outgoing ordersthey do takeaways as well as well as waiting on tables. Excellent!
