Awesome Bar/ Club mix set up, section for people who like to smoke and chat and people who like to mosh and rock on. Amplifier bar is great for metal, rock, local bands anything along those lines, you enjoy these things and more you will very much enjoy the vibe of Amplifier Bar. It connects to Magnet House on Saturday's allowing an awesome mix of music and place to party at!
Security is a disgrace. Apparently I was "falling asleep" even though I didn't shut my eyes once. I was sitting near the exit waiting at a table because my phone died around 10pm thinking my mate would come looking for me. Security escorted me out saying I was falling asleep apparently. They wouldn't let me walk with them to find my mate. I showed them my phone said 0% multiple times. They wouldn't call me an uber or a taxi for cash, told me to try the hotel across the road but they wouldn't open the doors. Ended up giving a couple that I bumped into at the event $90 for a $30 to Vic Park where my car was. I was nothing but polite and tried to reason with them showing them my phone saying 0% multiple times but they wouldn't even try help me find a way home. Utter disgrace
Pity about the drinks being very weak, not a full pour, and quite expensive. Otherwise was a great night with good music.Food: 3/5
I actually love this place for the music vibe and atmosphere but feel disappointed with the security staff, i was asked to leave because i had had enough drinks, fair enough and i was compliant. But they asked this of me seconds after buying drinks and my partner walking off. Fair the drinks are a loss cause but it did feel like they waited for me to spend my money first! the real issue is my partner just left to go on the dance floor when i was stopped, she assumed i was following, all i asked when being told to leave by the 3 gentleman was that one of them let my partner know ive been kicked out so she is not looking for me, this was important because her phone was dead, i pointed her out. They denied this. I did try to reason but they would not have a bar of it. I was very surprised i was asked to leave, a paying customer not causing any issues, it just seems very disrespectful, when removing an individual there is zero care for that person. Feels like the security is power hungry and just want to flex in the mirror. Ill likely never return It was over an hour my partner was looking for me inside while I waited outside. Very un professional
went there a christmas party to play bowling as they have 3 lines on which you can play it was very fun and some good music was playing . lots and lots of tattooed people there i felt a bit like i was not inked enough to be there sometimes but being there with my team was fun, being there alone for a drink to meet people , probably not it more a party place
First time visiting this venue last night. Went for an international band I have waited 10 years to see. So you can imagine the build up of excitement beforehand. I used to review international bands for a rock and metal website. So have been to many gigs before. We arrived to a very grumpy security man who rudely ordered for our ID, ok no problem. We went through to the band room. We were met with the most awful distorted sound. It was just horrid. So loud and distorted. Not to mention the feedback problems with the second support band. Sound guy needs more training. The place just is not big enough for some bands. Last night we ended up having to leave 4 songs into the band I came to see after being elbowed to the head and back a few times by their own staff. Very drunk men that should have been kicked out trying to pick fights with people or so drunk they can't stand straight and kept falling into us but kept saying we were pushing them we were just standing there watching bands. Having drinks spilt all over me was the final straw and we left. I thought this place practice standard RSA laws? Won't be back no matter who goes to play there in the future.
Security are on a power trip. They are extremely creepy and they bully patrons. I will not be back here. Hire better security.
Got kicked out immediately after buying my second drink for the night and somehow had my wallet and passport stolen off me on the way out whilst being surrounded by 4 security guards to the door explaining that whilst I'm in good spirits Ive bought to many drinks. Then 10 minute later had my bank account drain of 200+ dollars . Felt singled out for no good reason what so ever.
Still as loud as I remember, Thankfully the staff had a box of ear plugs behind the counter as we decided on a last minute gig and didn't come prepared. The new revamp has refreshed a tired old venue but in my personal opinion the bowling lanes are a bit out of place. I miss the old outside set up which MADE it the place it was. Good to see not much if anything has changed about the stage section
Didn't buy drinks, I may be short but I have some grey hairs & grey on my goaty and they still asked for ID and my support worker is nearly twice my hight bigger build and asked for ID would have stayed longer but my first City nightclub otherwise great night Parking: Multi storey parking Murray St Use the app for Wilson parking can book ahead
