Last evening, I had the pleasure of dining at Amore Mexico, a quaint Mexican eatery nestled in the heart of Blackburn. The experience was a delightful journey through a menu brimming with promise, though it held a few surprises along the way. Starters: The evening commenced with a duo of starters. The Street Tacos, tender chicken enveloped in soft tortillas, were a textural delight, while the Mexican Potato Skins, also chicken-stuffed, offered a comforting embrace of flavors. Mains: For the main course, the Amor Burritoand Enchilada Taco took center stage. Each dish was crafted with care, the burrito generously filled and the taco striking the right balance between soft and crunchy. Drinks: To complement the meal, a classic Bacardi and a refreshing Gin and Tonic were the chosen libations. Both were mixed to perfection, providing a smooth accompaniment to the rich flavors of the food. Ambiance: The overall vibe of the restaurant was unexpectedly quiet, a serene backdrop that allowed the food to truly shine. It was a welcome respite from the bustling noise one might anticipate. A Culinary Quirk: However, as a Mexican cuisine aficionado, I found myself taken aback by the absence of certain staples. The lack of jalapeñosand coriander was a curious omission across all dishes. Moreover, the simplicity of pico de galloand the zest of salsas were notably missing, leaving a gap where a burst of freshness should have been. Value: While the food was undoubtedly delicious, it’s worth noting that the prices leaned towards the higher end of the spectrum. The cost, though not exorbitant, did prompt a moment of pause when considering the missing elements of traditional Mexican fare. Conclusion: In summary, Amore Mexico offers a delightful dining experience with flavors that satisfy and service that comforts. Yet, for those seeking the full vibrancy of Mexican cuisine, there may be a few flavors left to be desired.
Love dinning here. Has a great vegeterian and vegan selection. I also enjoy the drinks and Amy is a blast. It's my favourite Mexican joint! Vegetarian options: Really enjoyed the options. It nice to have more than 1 or 2
Great service and atmosphere, food was okay. We were greeted by very friendly staff, great options on the menu. We chose the banquet for our table. Chicken potato skins and chilli con carne tacos were good. Fajita was a bit underwhelming, underseasoned. Churros were nice at the end. I'd say for 49pp, serving sizes were on the small size, main was lacking flavour.
Such a welcoming place, Amy was engaging and kind, knew our names after a few minutes and recommended wonderful dishes from the menu. Drinks were great. It’s tucked away in a nice quiet location near the main road and station. Will be making this a regular dinner and drinks place for sure!! Thanks Amy for everything, we loved our night. Vegetarian options: Yes! Our party had a vegetarian dish and it was wonderful! Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, vegan and made to order. Parking: Right near the station, but if parking there is an entire parking lot and more in the area Kid-friendliness: Children dining in and having a great time, toys in the restaurant and comfy seats!
Beautifully decorated restaurant with a warm and cosy ambience. The waitress who attended to our table was very polite and friendly. The food was delicious and the serving was also pretty reasonable. Price was reasonable as well. Will definitely come back again in the future.
Great atmosphere, service and food. A really nice restaurant. The staff are brilliant and the food delicious. The stuffed jalapenos were to die for . And the frozen margaritas.. exquisite !
Awesome restaurant, Amy is so warm and welcoming, couldn't recommend enough! Fantastic vegan and vegetarian options and the margaritas are to die for!Food: 5/5
Before we had even decided what to eat we had fallen in love with Amor Mexico. Amee on the floor was attentive, full of excitement and passionate. Her effervescence was infectious! The food was delicious, well priced and so flavourful. It felt like a home cooked meal but the added bonus - no dishes The atmosphere of the restaurant was sensational. I have found my new local Mexican hub
Had a seating for 6 people on a Friday night. Cold outside so sat indoors but immediately noticed the air conditioner on full blast and all doors being left open. The single toilet inside the restaurant was blocked so we had to use a disabled toilet outside that was filthy and had a broken lock. We each ordered a main and one entree for the table. One of the mains we ordered didn’t come out at all because they were “sold out of food” and the food we did get took roughly an hour to come out. Portions were okay but the food was incredibly overpriced and much of it was bland and unappealing. The two staff waiting tables was nowhere near enough and there was no music so the atmosphere was terrible. Overall a pretty terrible experience and I do not recommend this restaurant at all unless something changes.
Absolutely loved it. From the food to the decor, and the Sangria...I should have ordered the litre carafe. It's a bit hidden away at the Blackburn shops, but well worth the visit Vegetarian options: There is a page with vegetarian selection
