This was probably the best restaurant I've ever been to. I went for lunch and immediately had to come back for dinner. A few days later, I even returned a third time to celebrate the end of a very long trip. It was the best decision I could have made. The food was outstanding every time. Even the vegetarian side dishes with my steak brought a smile to my face because they were so delicious. The service was excellent. Several staff members recognized me independently and greeted me. They were also extremely helpful and attentive I swear I didn't do anything to put a spotlight on me. The atmosphere is perfect, too. Modern, yet cozy and very pleasant, even when it's busy. I really can't imagine what could be improved. Thank you for a wonderful end to my trip!
During my 14-day vacation in New Zealand, my friend—who has been living here for years—kept telling me that I shouldn’t leave without visiting Amano Bakery. On our final morning before heading to the airport, we finally got the chance to visit… and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip.nnWhat an outstanding experience! Thanks to my friend for introducing this place.nnThe ambiance is beautiful with an old-world, timeless charm inside that makes the whole experience feel special. We tried the almond croissant, cinnamon brioche, and prosciutto croissant — and every single one was excellent. The pastries had that perfect crispy exterior with delicate layer-by-layer texture inside, and each bite had its own unique flavor.nnA special mention to the almond croissant — absolutely don’t miss it if you visit!nnA perfect way to end our New Zealand vacation.
Came to Amano on a public holiday after hearing so much about the place. Definitely on the pricier side. The place was busy without being impossible to get a table.nnFood was good overall with no faults. Had their brownies as well, which were moist and soft. Personally, it is probably not somewhere I would visit frequently due to the budget, but for a special occasion it is definitely worth considering.
Amazing food, amazing drinks and when it comes to the land of sheeps, the lamb here are da bomb.nIt is not gamey, so juicy and charred perfectlynThe cocktails are really good too, so go slow and take it easy.nnIt is very popular and crowded so without a reservation, you will likely have to squeeze and share seats at the bar counter.nNot the most comfortable dining style but it is worth the squeeze for the food and drinks.
We had dinner at Amano and it was a mixed bag. We appreciated how helpful the staff were to get us a table even though we didn’t book and our initial waiter was fantastic with recommendations.nnWe started with some drinks and focaccia style bread. The drinks were great and the focaccia was fantastic with great flavour and an interesting take on the dish. We also had one of both Oysters which were also goodnnAfter this we received our mains and these were just okay. The steak portion wasn’t the biggest which is understandable for the high end dining but when beans are the best part of the dish, i couldn’t give it a 5. The a pappardelle pasta was lovely but nothing spectacular for the price we paid.nnThis is when the service was noticeably slow. We couldn’t get a hold of a waiter and had our plates sitting for a while. Only when we asked for dessert did the staff also come to remove our plate. I understand it was busy but there was plenty of staff available.nnThe deserts were both enjoyable but again, nothing to write home about.nThe focaccia was our favourite thats a bit disappointing for a meal over 100$ per person
