It was my first visit to Al Taglio, I had high expectation due to many awards and recommendations this place has achieved and it did not disappoint. The quality of the dough, technique of making and baking the pizzas and modern touch of ingredients and technique involved, everything was wowed for me. We had carbonara pizza and potato pizza and pumpkin gnocchi and salad, all were amazing. As a pizza lover Al Taglio gave me some hints on how the pizzas will evolve in the future and their contemporary pizzas will surely be more recognized highly. Looking foward to comeback any time sooner. Ciao!
One of the best Italian pizzas I’ve had in Sydney. Highly recommended if you’re looking for proper pizza with a twist. The wine prices per bottle is astronomical and could be revised.
The service was great, servers were really helpful with the food and wine, and they had a few vegan items. Venue was ok, we sat outside and felt more like sitting in someone's front garden than a restaurant. They had heaters given it was the middle of winter, but was still a bit chilly. The food was really disappointing, the $8 garlic bread was a few small pieces of toast with hardly any garlic, that came with a ramekin with some oil and balsamic that you couldn't quite fit the toast into. Pizzas had a lot of crust and not enough flavour to make up for that fact. The toppings on some were oddly stacked and had to be spread out to actually be able to eat the pizza. Amazing place and amazing service, The pizzas were not ur typical ingredients but I was taken back how good they were . The mushroom pasta was delicious and full of so much flavour.
This restaurant was really really good! I feel like it's one of the trendiest and most modern Italian restaurants I've been to - it felt like they were pushing the envelope and innovating in many ways, although I'm not experienced enough with cuisine to be able to pinpoint how. Initially their music was quite off-putting as I was not expecting to hear modern electronic remixes of 1920s jazz at an Italian restaurant, but over time the vibe grew on me. I do think it was a little too loud though - we sat outside because of the volume of the music, which was slightly too loud for comfortable conversation indoors. The food was absolutely amazing though - I didn't know that pizza could taste the way it did, and the special pasta was super good! I did think that there wasn't enough garlic bread as an entree, although the amount we were served was really nice. Overall, this place was really cool, and I'd definitely recommend it!
Loved this place... Pizzas look small but don't be tricked, you'll get there... Lovely place, great pizza options, super friendly staff, what else is to ask for?
The pizzas look fancier than they taste. I ordered the mortadella pizza which was decent but some of my colleagues who ordered the pizza of the day didn't like it much and couldn't finish it. Also, they don't let you split the payment, which is not very big group friendly.
All the pizzas have the option of a gluten free base which was a great start for me as I’m gluten intolerant. The pizza itself was well presented and tasted just as great. I would also recommend the beef tartare.
Disappointed is an understatement. I was so excited to try this local place and shared my enthusiasm with the lovely waitress. She too, was super excited about my excitement! Especially since it’s been a very busy few weeks and we haven’t had a chance to dine in at a restaurant for weeks. It went down hill from there.. To keep it simple, save your hard earned money and take yourself to a different Italian restaurant unless you like little, over priced, bland pizzas and yucky entrees. My favourite courses are always the entrees and almost every time I go eat at an Italian restaurant, I generally always want more of the entrees. Not here - I didn’t even want to finish it which has never ever happened to me before. Usually, at other Italian restaurants, they’d have delicious carpaccio, oysters, calamari, mussels in a beautiful Napoletana sauce, meatballs etc but not here.. I ordered 2 entrees, the first was the Tonno Alla Bismark Cured Tuna. It cost $23 for this tiny entree that I couldn’t even finish. Just not for my palette at all. The next entree was the Pizza in Teglia which cost $17. Another dish that was a disappointment. Basically a cube of bread with 3 teeny slices of ham on it. Check out my pictures to see teeny they are. For mains, we got 2 pizzas which both came out looking the same. Rustica and the Popettone, $30 each for a kids size pizza. They were so small although were served on a big platter which made it seem deceptively larger than it was. That is, until you remove the weird ball of rocket in the middle of the plate, and push the pizza together towards the middle. Super weird. The dough was made fresh and was light, but the pizzas were bland. Even the chilli oil couldn’t save it to give it a boost. By this point in time, the nice waitress could see the disappointment in our faces and didn’t look us in the eyes anymore or made any more small talk. She knew not to bother asking if I wanted dessert. $140 with drinks to leave after 45 mins, only to search for another place to eat as we were still hungry. Disappointed is an understatement.
Very good pizza but seriously small, no, tiny, I mean tiny. One pizza wouldn't feed a normal person. Tastes good, very good but don't bother unless your on a severe diet. Other places nearby as good with normal sized pizza.
