Akasiro is based on a traditional arrangement of a Japanese meal, consisting of one bowl of soup and three side dishes.
The lunch menu is set as 'teishoku' (main+rice+miso soup) to choose from typical home cooked dish to eccentric dish you had never met!

Akasiro is located on the corner of Cambridge and Peel Street.

Best Japanese food in Melbourne - never before have I had such a great meal in Melbourne for under $50 for 2 people including drinks. Authentic Japanese cuisine, incredible seafood, sauces, tofu and beef! I will keep coming back frequently, such an amazing experience

Very good for lunch meal, kind of fusion way of Japanese/western cuisine. But there was not much choice during dinner time. It is neither the Izakaya or proper dinner place during dinner time. Highly recommended for lunch but not dinner. Generally speaking it was expensive for dinner but no good experience. However lunch was excellent on the expensive side but acceptable.

I have been on a desperate hunt for authentic Japanese food in Melbourne. Unfortunately, I was let down once again. Despite the Japanese waiter and chefs, the food was disappointing. The flavours were bland, the rice was a bit old and hardened, and the side dish pictured to the left was lukewarm. I would consider this to be very basic ‘homemade’ Japanese food. Authentic, yes. But nothing special whatsoever. I can’t imagine this restaurant lasting a month if they set up store in Japan.

The food were absolutely on point but the service was otherwise. The gent serviced us was rather rude and could not be bothered yet turned around and talked n smiling to his fellow waitress. It was our second time n absolutely disappointed. We left with a bad taste

The best Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. Authentic cueap Japanese menu (not sushi). All staff is Japanese
