If your after cichlids then definitely come and visit Abyss. One of the best in Sydney. They have a great range, very pure lines, very healthy and best of all the fish are cheap as they are bred in house. Tanks are always clean and disease free. If your after a custom tank then these guys may be a visit also. Their custom tanks are built nice and strong, the silicone work is ok, not the best probably due to being too busy.

Lots of fish (tropical and marine), common types and uncommon types. Great advice and friendly staff. Has all your aquarium needs. Experienced builder of glass fish tanks - small to very large.

Beware, beware, beware - you have been warned! The following review is an honest opinion on my first and last experience I will ever have dealing with this outright infamous company. Simply put, their actions were nothing short of fraudsters and after a total of 118 days (>3.5 months) of dealing with lies, a non-existant owner and left-field tactics, I had no other option than to force a chargeback and claim my money back on the basis of fraud. Know your rights and enforce them. Never pay cash and always use the insurance of your credit card if you choose to deal with this 'business.' It's bemusing that a company that 'prides' itself on building custom built aquariums could not even manage to construct a simple 2.5ft tank with centre weir, despite having thorough technical drawings provided before the order was placed. How they would cope with a larger aquarium is beyond me. The other reviews below stating a lack of communication are generous... these guys only bothered to start a dialogue after their reputation was put at risk, and even then it was mostly lies and/or delay tactics. Even after being caught out, the lack of accountability is phenomenal, blaming customers for previous job issues, past businesses and even their own store owner for my job going wrong. It is deeply disturbing to find that the company denied my job even existed when recommendations to search for another company were made online, unless people are willing to wait a ridiculous amount of time. It’s interesting that these same tactics can be found in other different reviews below. If you're going to try and claim that the job doesn't exist even when bank statements and email communications are available and clearly show a withdrawal, then the only other reasoning to justify such deductions is pure theft! When the seriousness of the scenario was pressed on staff, their tactics shifted to claiming that because there was no formal quote I had nothing to validate the case against them. An uncanny scenario considering they failed to provide a formal quote, which not only shows a direct breach of trade regulations but an attempt to illegally suggest the job was not traceable and could not be refunded back. I strongly suggest any future risk-takers to this company pay by means which are traceable. My job had email communication logs, digital payments and detailed drawings and still managed to result in such complications. I wonder how the business survives. It leads me to believe they are financially incompetent, with severe organisational issues. Numerous attempts to contact the owner went unheard and leads me to believe the he was not only aware, but playing ignorant on the issues raised. It's unfortunate this review does not allow negative stars, because one star is generous in suggesting some form of service was provided, which certainly was not the case. If there were negative stars available this company would deserve a 5/5. P.S. don't be fooled with the overall rating of this company, there are numerous internal reviews written by staff to boost the overall appearance - what genuine company would need to do this? Don't get reeled into the deep and seemingly bottomless chasm that is Abyss.
