Usually, I only feel its stock availability/variety is poor. But lately, the pricing seems to be very shady as well.ne.g.: I saw these Nescafe gold instant coffee packets in the special section without any marking of current or usual price on it. Out of curiosity, I went to the coffee aisle and was surprised to find that this was not at all on special as per the pricing listed there, but another brand of coffee was on special.nSo, either they are really incompetent I hope this is the case for putting the prices/specials accurately, or they deliberately want to dupe unsuspecting customers into buying something that is not under special promo, but buy a more expensive brand.nnI really hope this unfair trade practice changes for the good of customers
Woolworths Pakuranga at the town centre is a convenient local option for grocery shopping, especially for those living nearby. The store is generally well-kept and clean, with friendly staff who are often praised for their helpfulness and polite service. Many customers find the late-night hours useful, and the layout, while compact, is easy enough to navigate for a quick visit. Online ordering options like click-and-collect or home delivery add extra convenience, particularly for busy households or older shoppers.nnHowever, the store isn’t without its issues. One of the main complaints is around stock availability—common items like bread, milk, or fresh fruit can sometimes be missing from shelves. Pricing is another concern, with some customers feeling that Woolworths is more expensive than nearby alternatives like Pak’nSave. There have also been reports of outdated shelf labels, which can lead to confusion at checkout when advertised specials don’t match up.nnThe layout of the store can feel a bit cramped during busy periods, with narrow aisles and occasional bottlenecks near the checkout area. When staffing is low, long queues can build up, particularly in the evenings or on weekends.nnThe broader Pakuranga Plaza where the store is located has also been facing challenges. A number of small shops have closed down, and ongoing construction work around the busway and flyover has impacted foot traffic. The recent closure of The Warehouse has left a noticeable gap in the retail mix, although new pop-up stores and food vendors are starting to appear. Locals are hopeful that planned redevelopment, including new apartments and upgraded facilities, will help revitalize the area in the near future.nnOverall, Woolworths Pakuranga is a reliable option for locals needing day-to-day essentials. It’s friendly, clean, and easy to access, but it would benefit from better stock management, clearer pricing, and a stronger surrounding retail environment to truly shine.
17/4 9.45am and the deli is closed due to staff unwell. Very poor management when no other department with staff are trained for such a scenario. Perhaps the Manager ought to have stepped up. Went elsewhere. Also deli cabinet had salads and some meats in display cabinet .. is this cabinet not cleaned out after each shift and wiped out a health incident waiting to happen once again???
Nice store. I went to a bunch of Countdowns in NZ. Right next to an excellent weekend night market.
The only Countdown that opens at 8am, all the rest at 7am, shouldn't opening hours be consistent, right across the board like pricing? Derek is lovely, always very helpful. We bought a sourdough from here yesterday in a plastic wrap, and it was so hard and stale, we couldn't eat it. Sourdough bread is usually crusty and so soft inside, we bought one from Paknsave Botany today, it was so fresh and lovely to eat.
