I am very disappointed with my experience at this store.nnOn a previous visit, I purchased a pack of cookies that appeared completely sealed and in good condition from the outside. However, when I got home and opened the package, I found that the cookies were infested with ants. This raised serious concerns about the store's product quality and storage standards.nnI recently visited the store again and was equally disappointed by the customer service. One staff member was behaving in a very unprofessional manner. He was shouting at customers, appeared panicked and disorganized, and seemed unsure of what he was doing. His behavior came across as aggressive and intimidating rather than helpful.nnI also observed him directing customers around by waving his hands and ordering them to move from one place to another, which felt disrespectful and inappropriate. Customers should be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of how busy the store may be.nnBased on these experiences, I cannot recommend this store. Both the product quality and the level of customer service need significant improvement.
This happened about 2 years ago but I have never forgotten about it and I never can because I lived close by and had to avoid going here ever again. I hired a rug doctor and I know the rules where you need to return it within the decided times. I called the shop asking if I need to come in to extend to the next following day, which I was actually fine with, but the manager insisted that I didn’t need to, I also did ask multiple times if they are sure but they confirmed yes.nnThe next day when I went to return it, the staff said I had to pay a fine for bringing it a day late, but she was very professional, she was a younger island girl. She said the system said I needed to pay before I get my bond back. I explained to her what happened, she was understanding but was just trying to follow what the system said. Another staff came up to me out of the blue, and kept repeating herself “You Need To Pay!” “You Have To Pay”. I calmly explained the situation over and over again but it wasn’t getting to her head. She wasn’t understanding anything I was saying. She was an Indian girl and I believe her name was Gurdeep, if not Gurdeep then something very similar. I asked if there was someone higher up I could talk to, she was gone for a long time. As someone finally came. She was an older Indian lady and walking towards me, I smiled and said hi, and the first thing she said to me? “YOU HAVE TO PAY!!” “YOU HAVE TO PAY!!!” …non stop while pointing the finger at me the entire time.nnOh my goodness, I’ve worked in different retail sections before, and never saw any Manager act or talk that way to a customer as their first greeting. Gurdeep was at the side just watching, but she was smiling as well, like I was a bad person trying to avoid paying and she’s happy someone’s telling me off.nnI was stuck there at the countdown for 50mins since trying to return the rug doctor… 50 mins. Even through all of this I didn’t raise my voice or get upset, working in customer service, no one likes an angry customer. But I was incredibly shocked about the behaviour with these two staff.nnThey eventually let me go and told me to come back tomorrow. I got someone else to go in for me because I couldn’t get over how I was treated. The actual store manager working that next day passed on the message saying he was sorry, and that the night person was a temporary assistant manager. I appreciate he apologised for the inconvenience, but he definitely didn’t know the extent of how bad the 2 staff were acting.nnThinking about what happened still upsets me to this day. I have to purposely avoid going there. I always wanted to write a complaint letter but I didn’t even want to think about this ever again so I avoided it. I don’t know if that island girl still works there, but that is how you handle a situation, she was kind and professional, confused about the situation and what to do but didn’t act crazy, raise her voice and say the same thing repeatedly over and over like a broken record. “YOU HAVE TO PAY!!!!!” Just imagine someone saying that to your face 20 times … at least, with no other sentence. It’s too late now since it’s been a long time, and they probably won’t even care about this, but it would’ve been nice to have a face to face apology by those two 2.
Woolworths Mt Wellington is a convenient and spacious supermarket that serves the surrounding community well, especially those commuting through the busy Mt Wellington Highway and Penrose Road area. Open until midnight most days, it offers plenty of flexibility for shoppers who need to pop in outside typical business hours. The layout inside is practical, with wide aisles that make it easy to navigate whether you’re doing a full grocery run or just grabbing a few essentials. Parking is available underground and is usually manageable, though it can get tight during peak hours.nnThe fresh produce section is decent but can be hit or miss—some shoppers have noted that fruit occasionally feels overripe or closer to frozen than fresh. Still, for everyday needs, it generally does the job. The meat, bakery, and frozen food sections are well stocked with standard choices, though not particularly expansive. Self-checkout machines work efficiently, and staff are usually on hand to assist if anything goes wrong. The overall customer service experience is solid, with most staff coming across as helpful and polite.nnOne area where Woolworths Mt Wellington receives some criticism is the online order pick-up service, where customers have reported items missing or being substituted with odd alternatives. Additionally, security presence is noticeable, and some shoppers have observed incidents of shoplifting, with concerns raised about how staff and guards respond—or don’t.nnDespite a few rough edges, Woolworths Mt Wellington is a reliable local supermarket that ticks most boxes for convenience, availability, and accessibility. It might not have the polish of a flagship store, but for everyday shopping, it remains a useful go-to option for residents and busy passers-by alike.
Average experience at Woolworths Mt Wellington. The store has a good range of products and is generally convenient for regular shopping. However, the service can be improved, especially during busy hours when queues get longer and staff availability is limited. Overall, it is an okay place for quick grocery shopping, but there is room for improvement in customer service and checkout efficiency.
This is a perfectly fine super market, the shelves are usually stocked and presented nice. The only thing I would say is to have more cash registers open.
