what a suprise, book online through their webpage, saves lining up and getting a ticket when it's busy, was a easy process to scan our tickets on my phone for the family.nwe purchased up and down. would recommend going for a walk around , there is a few shops not far away from the top, the cable car museum next door walking steps away is great, love the history. a spectacular view, wow oh wow, and a short walk for a different view is fantastic. Loved this unique experience we had as a family on our holiday.
Riding the Wellington Cable Car is a must-do experience for anyone visiting the city! From the moment you hop on, you’re treated to stunning views that make the journey unforgettable. The cab rides smoothly up the hillside, offering panoramic vistas of the harbor, city skyline, and surrounding mountains.nnThe cable car itself is a piece of history, having been in operation since 1902. It blends a charming vintage feel with modern comfort, making it a unique way to explore the area. The staff is friendly, providing helpful information about the route and the sights along the way.nnAt the top, you can explore the beautiful Botanic Garden, a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, picnic, or just soaking in the natural beauty. There’s also a small museum that shares the story of the cable car and its significance to Wellington.nnThe ride is not just about getting from point A to B; it's an enjoyable adventure that showcases the best of Wellington. With reasonable ticket prices, the cable car offers great value for the experience and views. If you’re in Wellington, don’t miss out on this iconic attraction—it’s truly a highlight of the trip!
A truly historic must-do. This century old cable car adds charm and efficiency to this charming city. Weather does it your experience so try planning accordingly. Also very popular for tour groups and cruise passengers with queues running quite the line. Combine with the restaurant, museum, lookout and botanical gardens weather permitting to make the most of this experience. Two thumbs up!
Very cool - right in the middle of the city Lambton Quay shopping and business area - CBD. The entrance to the ticket booth is tucked into an alleyway. I came upon it unexpectedly whilst walking around . Runs every 10 minutes. Lovely views on the ride up with commentary.nNice little coffee shop at the top. Had a delicious cappuccino and a tasty treat. Enjoyed the great views. I decided to walk back down through the botanical gardens on well laid, paved paths passing through clearly marked gardens. Highly recommend. Marvelous children's playground along the way.nI saw signs while at the top for the observatory but didn't have enough time to check it out.nI recommend to buying a one way going up as it's very easy and simple to purchase your return if you decide to ride down instead of walk down.nGive this delightful adventure time, don't be in a hurry. There's also a public bus at the top of you want to go elsewhere.
This cable car takes you to the top of the hill, offering a beautiful view of the city and the bay. It's a historic cable car, having celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2022. You can visit the museum for free to understand who built it and how. Once you reach the top, you can relax or continue on to visit the botanic gardens. The return ticket is $NZ12, well worth it.
