Beautiful gardens with a stunning variety of plants and trees. Paths are well maintained but some are a bit steep. The rose garden was in full bloom during our visit. There is also some spectacular views of the city to be had up by the cable car
Very pleasant way to pass a few hours i n a really well presented even if not a botanist. Cafes, musuem, observetary and great view out to sea. Nice cable car ride from city center. Plenty of seating around to rest and enjoy your surroundings.
Wellington Botanic Garden is a beautiful and peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature, and take a break from sightseeing. The gardens are well maintained, with a wonderful mix of native and exotic plants, colourful flower beds, and wide open green spaces that invite you to wander at your own pace.nnOne of the highlights is taking the cable car up to the top, which adds a fun and scenic start to the visit with great views over Wellington along the way. From there, you can enjoy an easy downhill walk through the gardens, stopping at various lookout points and quiet corners for photos or relaxation. Easily accessible and suitable for all ages, the Botanic Garden is an ideal stop whether you have a short visit or a few hours to spare. If you’re in Wellington, this is a calm and refreshing experience not to be missed.
It is a beautiful and peaceful spot in the heart of the city. It has lovely walking paths, themed gardens like the Rose Garden and Begonia House, and great views from the Cable Car. Free entry, family-friendly, and perfect for nature lovers.
Winding, hilly and wonderful is how I'd describe this garden. Lots of great lookout points throughout. Most folks come up via the cable car but we walked up streets and steps from The Terrace. Aside from many interesting plants, we saw some North Island Kakas up close and a Green-headed pigeon. Cafe is at the north-east end of the gardens next to the rose garden. Plus Wellington turned on a sunny, calm day!
