Waimakariri River Regional Park

Well if you take a drove along the river from the turn of , of the old waimakariri Bridge then you'll find some great spots there is about 3 or 4 picnic tables when perhaps could be a few more. There's some safe spots to swim. You don't know what's there until you take that drive. It was an awesome day out

Found two spots ok for dogs on the Southside.nGood walk available too.nAccess without going on motorway.

I love this place. Scenery is fantastic, fresh air and more than enough room for our two Rotties to run free, undisturbed . Would of received 5 stars, but the fact that they close the gates at 7pm winter hours, Summer hours are 11pm which is 4 hours earlier than the summer cut off clocks go back and forward one hour so I don’t get the 4 hour thing. Not everyone has dinner or finishes work by 7. Also when shutting the gates, the area is not checked before locking. One time we were helping a truck stuck. It was 6.55pm. We didn’t get them out until 7.30 and upon leaving, gates locked. You could clearly see headlights from gate area. I find this a health and safety issue and knowing the council’s protocol on H&S, it should be applied herenOther than that great place
