Have found doctors and staff excellent if overworked but there was no excuse for the situation I found myself in today. I have arthritis in both hips in addition to several other age-related complaints. Went to get my kidneys checked out today, only to find that the doors to Level 3 were locked. A small notice to one side advised that access could only be made via Level One. Back to the lift and another long, uncomfortable, walk. The hospital sent a notice of the appointment a month or so ago, and another reminder last week, both with a list of detailed instructions, but absolutely no warning about locked doors. My hips were extremely painful by the time I had finished and I was left with uncharitable thoughts about the hospital's office staff.
I would like to say a very big thank you to the staff at the Waikato Hospital. From the ambulance drivers, the doctors and nurses at the ER department and the Cardiology ward. It is a frightening time getting unexpected into a hospital situation, but everyone was so caring, kind and helpful. The people wo work at the hospital deserve all our gratitude and respect for the hard work they do each day.
I stayed here to give birth to my baby, all nurses, doctors and midwife’s were lovely. After birth was a bit more difficult as i found the cleaners to be very noisey in and out of the room where babies were sleeping. Made it a rocky start with my baby, me being very tired as is and I would just get my baby to sleep and the cleaners would come in and be super noisey with the rubbish bags, bins etc which would wake not only my baby but other babies. Everyone else was lovely and the food was great. Felt well looked after
My mother was admitted through Angelsea medical by a doctor, and was told to from up to ED with her referral to be admitted to the ward. We arrived at ED and that’s not what happened at all. Saw 4 different nurses, got moved 3 times over including being put along the nurses station 7 hours before seeing any doctor at all even though letter from Angelsea was from a GP, and was a referral direct to a surgeon. The WORST thing was that her allergies were not fully listed, and we had to correct 3 nurses because the paperwork they were reading was wrong/ incomplete. Patients having to repeat detailed information over and over is completely unacceptable, and just straight dangerous. The staff are trying - but the system is completely broken, and it seems that for every good story, there’s at least 3 horror stories. If there was an alternative within a 100km radius, I’d happily use it instead.
Spent yesterday morning in Nuclear medicine. All staff were exceptional. From the reception desk to the finished xray. So friendly and professional. Well done to all.
I was admitted promptly and every nurse that looked after me went above and beyond. Special shout out to Regan who is a superstar! All of the staff from reception to wardies were amazing and made a painful experience much more bearable. Thank you
Hi came in after 6.ish . Sent away to tui medical te rapa 7.30pm, sent back here 1.15am it is now 4.15am still in waiting room. Have done bloods, lure in arm, label on wrist and still awaiting a ward for nil by mouth by breakfast tomorrow for surgery. This is an absolute joke! Appalling to be mucked around & waiting this long. It's quite sad & embarrassing this is the service you receive when your sick. We do not live in a third world country ‍
Terrified to even go to waikato hospital, in all the times I've been, such neglect of care and really horrible nurses. I'd rather take my chances at home, that's how bad it is. Do not go here, you'll be left in a room for hours and ignored even when yelling for help, they will roll you into the Ed waiting room from the ambo unconscious, two of many bad experiences. This hospital needs to be shut down, it's disgusting
Traumatized by an assault by two female aggressors who woke me from my sleep I had my hoodie pulled from behind over my face so I could not see them then punched in the face following hits to the head. I had concussion, nasal fracture amongst bruising from hits to the head and kicks to the legs. Summary from the Waikato Hospital Discharge stated it was due to Alcohol Intoxication? My ethanol reading was in the mildly intoxication levels. Their attitudes were accusatory and treated me as though I was the aggressor when I was the victim. Poor attitude by admittance Doctor and staff. Thankfully the Shift Doctor was more empathetic to my injuries. Appauling experience to have to go through Waikato Hospital on top of being assaulted.
Ask to be euthanised I mean it. This hospital along with Northland DHB are hands down the worst. Every time I’ve given birth here, cover ups in the records I see after I requested have happened. Can’t find any record of blood transfusions in 2010. My youngest daughter had tested positive for a pancreatic enzyme insufficiency at birth in2016. Then missed 6 years of treatments. Found out 2021 after requesting my records. That’s changed on the test file now. I’ve been left for dead bleeding out for 6 years now, liver lesions from too much oestrogen contraceptives and now still won’t give me a hysterectomy but want to ply me with more drugs and contraceptives to be what they call medically managed. Maxiofacial and ENT even worse. Actually it’s lazy and continue this misogyny from the specialists. This poor Māori has nothing left to lose.
