Firstly, the steak meal was genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had. The staff were really lovely and so eager to help with everything. Yes some facilities were a little run down but the actual room was lovely, clean and had a lovely patio overlooking the lake. The only thing that could have been better was the spa pool wasn't really warm enough and the pool wasn't heated like the website said. But when you're in Rotorua it's not really a big issue because there's so many hot pools! Really enjoyed the stay. Thanks heaps.
Arriving at this establishment late in the night, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room provided. However, the true highlight of our stay came the following morning when we were greeted by a breathtaking view that exceeded all expectations. The serene beauty of the sunrise reflecting on the tranquil lake, coupled with the lush greenery of the surroundings, left us utterly mesmerized and set a serene tone for the day ahead. While the accommodation itself was satisfactory, the breakfast offerings left something to be desired. With limited options available, particularly for vegetarians, the breakfast experience fell short of our expectations. Nevertheless, the convenience of the location more than made up for this shortfall, with the hotel situated a mere 10 minutes away from all the attractions we wished to explore in the neighborhood. In terms of value for money, this establishment certainly delivered. The reasonable pricing, combined with the captivating view offered from our room, made for a memorable and enjoyable stay overall. Despite the minor shortcomings in the breakfast selection, the overall experience was positive, with the stunning vista serving as a constant reminder of the natural beauty that surrounded us throughout our stay. Rooms: Good rooms with a nice room Food & drinks: Very average
VR Rotorua was a mixed bag! The facilities seemed a bit run down, but the staff totally made up for it with their friendliness. Eva, the receptionist, was so helpful and accommodating when we complained about the state of our room when we arrived. She managed to put us into another room that was clean and dry. The lake view was absolutely stunning! Lot’s of outdoor space for the kids to run around. Overall, it's worth a visit if you can overlook the worn-out vibe for those gorgeous vistas and great service. Rooms: Needs renovation. Carpet was old and mucky. Noteworthy details: Lots of light bulbs in the bathroom needs to be replaced.
Came here for my wedding anniversary and nearly left divorced. To be fair the price of the rooms are quite reasonable and it's good value for money if you're wanting to just sleep and shower. We paid for an Executive room with spa and the price should have been the biggest indicator there was something wrong. The rooms look like it had water damage, the bedside wooden table tops had bubbled and lifted. A attempt to paint the walls and doors had been made at some stage but couldn't quite make it to some places and a hole had been covered and forgotten, the carpet was fraying it's rundown and somewhat depressing. The heater pump is in the lounge area and the bathroom floor is heated but you'll need to keep the doors open in order to keep warm in the room. The state of the premises truly does not deserve the position or views that it has. Staff are great and this is it's only saving grace, breakfast was $30 and I wish I had eaten more to make up for it. And no cutlery was provided in the rooms It's roughly 20-30mins drive from the centre of Rotorua and 10 mins from Hell's Gate. There is a small dairy across the road. And there is a boat ramp on the premises so I imagine quite nice in Summer if you can get past all the trout flies. Rooms: Outdated, rundown
Beautiful location with stunning views over lake Rotoma. Buffet breakfast was included in the price which was also good. However the hotel has seen better days. The interior has a dampness issue & l noticed mould on the carpet & walls in the hallway. The room was clean but there were several lights not working in the bathroom and the shower curtain needed replacing. The facilities in general were run down which is such a shame as there is so much potential with its location.
Old but comfy hotel in the rotorua region. The hotel is located a bit off the main tourist attractions but therefore it is pretty quiet. Large waterfront garden and they also have a small gym. Rooms were nice though the hotel itself appears a bit older. Breakfast was good though nothing fancy. Very friendly staff.Rooms: 4/5
Great view near the lake but quite far from Rotorua city center therefore its quite and calm. Really helpful staff. Our car's battery drained out overnight and they managed to get a jumpstart and helped us start the car. Special thanks to Ajay & Sid who helped us in need.Rooms: 3/5
A bit of a drive from central but it's a nice.location next to the lake. Rooms were spacious and great quality for the price. $20 for late check out til 12 so was nice and relaxed. They had two.spas, a cold pool and a sauna which I took great advantage of, was super relaxing, great atmosphere. Food was delicious as well. I will definitely go there again.
Room was clean and good. There are trout flies non biting everywhere. They can't help that because of proximity to lake. Staff are friendly. Both I and my friend had the breakfast in the grill the next morning but both ended up with belly issues.Rooms: 4/5
Our first impression with the hotel is that the building is old . Not much money has been spend by the owners to upgrade the appearance of the rooms and the restaurant. Furnitures in the room are worn, stained and designs are outdated. For the money we paid per night over $320, was a disappointment! Even breakfast was basic, no boiling hot water to make a cup of tea! Hot water was poured into a jug instead of a hot water urn which should keeps water hot longer. I think the owners are too cheap to get one! I am giving 3 Stars because of the clean towels, sheets and friendly staff. The poor staff all have to multitask! I personally feel that this place gets 5 Star ratings from fake profiles! Definitely a 3 Star hotel so it’s a kind of con! KEEP AWAY!!
