Enjoyable experience overall, will be back from the spring rolls alone.nnThe food was alright, the Lemon Grass Noodle and Spare Rib vermicelli virtually lacked a real depth of flavour and protein was a bit dry. The fried chicken on the other hand was really good !! We enjoyed the overall crunchy texture and flavour.nnJackfruit smoothie was nice ! It was something new and recommended to me by the waiter.
The food is delicious I eat here often. Welcoming English speaking staff. Great service. I highly recommend
Food was great! really enjoyed the wonton soup- was hot and delicious, together with the all time favourite -spring rolls and that tasty sauce that comes with it!! Enjoyed our dishes! and the location is pretty central in Otahuhu, was very clean and tidy cafe! And staff were friendly and very helpful. This place is one of our favourite restauraunts in Otahuhu!! we will be back! Thank you Vietnam Cafe!
I've been coming here since it opened, probably about 30 years or so and not sure how many owners it has had but it is relatively still the same except probably not quite as good as it was in it's heyday, when it pretty much set the standard for Vietnamese cuisine, in my opinion.nnDon't expect silver service but it's unpretentious and efficient. Vietnamese food is my favourite and I have travelled throughout Vietnam and their street food, and culture is truely amazing wherever you go in that wonderful country.nnMy favourite go to dish at Vietnam Cafe is called Pho, raw beef noodle soup with fresh herbs in a clear bone broth that has a depth of flavour created by expertly infusing spices and aromatics like star anise, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, fennel, coriander and ginger into a beef and marrow bone broth that is gently simmered for 24 hours. There are so many layers to this aromatic and complex dish, no wonder it is a signature dish in Vietnam. Every Chef will have their own secret ingredient, just like making a fine wine.nnAlso I like fresh rice paper rolls with pork and prawns with a dipping sauce, I prefer nuoc mam to the traditional hoisin and peanut sauce.nnAnother favourite is Combination Rice with soft egg, pork chop, Chinese sausage, shredded pork belly, prawn and fried spring onion and slices of cucumber.nnCurried Chicken and rice is a very satisfying comfort food and there always nuoc mam and chillies you can add to your liking.nnVietnamese coffee is the best there is, served either hot or iced and there are many other shakes to choose from. I always like to order Jackfruit or Durian but the Red Bean and Grass Jelly are just as good.nnI recommend mix and match or sharing is a fun way to try lots of different dishes and you really can't make a wrong choice.The food portions are generous and very good value and most importantly very nice.
The food was ok. Won't said that vietnamese food. I had meatballs rice noodles, meatballs is good and soup was ok. And my husband ordered seafood rice noodles soup and the noodles is over cook and all broken. Recommend to order rice dish they are tasty. All the meal are big portion and resonable price
