1 star. Service was poor from the start: we waited 10 minutes for a drinks order, had to get our own water after 20 minutes, and only after 30 minutes did a second waitress check on us. We ordered mains despite still not receiving our drinks or starter.nnThe food and drinks were equally disappointing. The cocktails were weak and overpriced with a lack of effort on presentation, the garlic bread was inconsistent one piece soft, one crispy, and the beef loaded nachos contained very little beef while being overloaded with sour cream. The $63 Scotch Fillet was especially underwhelming—chewy, lacking a proper sear, and difficult to eat—and the carrots were undercooked. No staff checked on our table throughout the meal to ask for feedback.nnWhen we raised these concerns, the manager interrupted serving a large incoming group to apologize and offer a $6.30 discount. While the gesture was appreciated, it did not adequately reflect the overall experience. I paid $57 for mash, undercooked carrots & 2 stalks of broccolini.nnOverall $160 down the drain. This was a very disappointing experience for my partner & I.
We are planning a visit to Milford Sound and stopby here, found this western restaurant with good rate.nWe visit at around 3pm and the restaurant was not crowded.nOrdered the pork ribs and rump steak. The pork ribs look good if to grill it a bit longer with some burning maybe better. As for the steak is ok, meat is soft and midium done. Doesn't lost the juicy of the meat.nThe staffs are friendly and nice chatting.
The Ranch has great a tasting Sunday roast dinner. We had the lamb w mint sauce, veggies and potatoes. Great value for 25 NZ. Desert was pavlova, apparently a NZ invented dish. Although it was tasty, it did lack cream in the topping. I came without a reservation so we got stuck in a very small table , looks to be designed for one person. I suggest reservation as the place was packed. Overall a great experience, I will be back in a couple of days.
I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the food. Partially my fault as I ordered items that aren’t full dinner size meals and more of snacks, but was hoping for better. Had vegetarian nachos, calamari salad, and fried cauliflower. Out of everything I found the calamari salad to be the best, and thought there was a generous amount of calamari. Given this was one of the only places open, I was happy to have found it and had some dinner. Wouldn’t put it at the top of my list either though!
Wasn’t a great start having a half hour wait for a table, though this gave us time to soak up the atmosphere and read through the menu.nnThe staff seemed to be coping, until a new group were seated and ordered straight away.nnAfter more than an hour and 2 pricey drinks $9.5 for a lemon lime and bitters? the meals arrived, without cutlery. Water was also achieved by self service.nnThe meals were a mix of okay to okay with small but notable errors like, mushroom sauce not peppercorns, burgers without mayo. Raw roast vegetables.nnUltimately it was the heat that drove us away, sitting in the mezzanine level where there was a fan, which wasn’t on.nnI’d have preferred to cook at home, though I can see the appeal if you book ahead and eat when it’s not that busy.
