We've ordered salt and pepper squid at most places in New Zealand and this place was just as good if not better than any of the others! The lamb was mouth watering, and I loved the pea puree beneath. My partner enjoyed his chicken sandwich and fries. Lots of great gluten free and non-alcoholic options! We got lucky with a booking that was a no-show and it got really busy after we were seated. Definitely recommend reserving ahead of time if you come in the summer!
We ordered the famous duck wonton, spaghetti bolognese, steak with creamy mushroom sauce, extra chips, and Merkel fish. The food was spectacular, and the staff were lovely and friendly. Highly recommend pre-booking your table, as we walked in and had to wait 30 minutes. The food took about an hour to arrive, but it was absolutely worth the wait!
Came on a busy summer Tuesday evening and felt taken care of at every step. Fantastic front of house system and service. No booking no problem. Got on the waitlist queue, grabbed a beer on tap, and was seated quickly on a sharing couch.nnI love Marlborough green lipped mussels and they delivered, amazing sauv blanc garlic butter stock to dip the bread in. Seafood linguine was creamy but lacked the seafood flavour I was getting from the mussels. Wished the duck fat potatoes were cut a little larger but the bite size was great too.
Really nice meal. The service was what really stood out for me - haven’t had service like that in a while! So professional and friendly. The food was good - I got fish and chips. The chips were amazing. I do wish there was a grilled or crumbed option for the fish rather than fried. I didn’t like the dressing on the coleslaw - it was just very creamy and watery. The sticky date pudding was VERY yummy. Good quality food. Would recommend! Definitely make a booking because it was busy. You can book on their website.
Absolutely delicious dinner tonight at The Fat Duck. We got the duck wontons, lamb shoulder, ribeye beef steak, roasted vegetables & steamed greens, then creme brulee & cheesecake for dessert. Highly recommended, a must-visit if you're in Te Anau, just book in advance as it's highly sought after and rightly so!
