Absolutely outstanding – a must-visit in Te AnaunnWe had an incredible dining experience at The Fat Duck in Te Anau. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care and skill — and the service was top notch from start to finish.nnWe shared the grilled lamb salad, twice-cooked pork belly, and fish and chips, and every dish was outstanding. The pork belly was perfectly crispy and rich, the lamb was tender and fresh, and the fish and chips were some of the best we’ve ever had.nnThe desserts were just as impressive — chocolate mousse, sticky date pudding, and crème brûlée were all absolutely delicious. The crème brûlée was perfectly caramelised, the sticky date was warm and indulgent, and the mousse was smooth and rich.nnFantastic food, beautiful presentation, and excellent service. If you’re in Te Anau, The Fat Duck is a must-visit. We would happily return in a heartbeat.
Had dinner here on our last night in Te Anau and we saved the best for last. We shared the S & P calamari and also had the Lamb and Seafood Linguine. Finished it off with a Creme Broulee and Sticky Date for dessert. Entree & Main 5 stars. Dessert I'd say 4.8 stars, the sauce on the sticky date was a touch too rich for my liking. It was the most expensive of the 3 dinners we had in Te Anau but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Also couldn't forget the service was very good aswell, attentive without being overbearing.
We loved the food here - this is the best restaurant in town! Wonderfully seasoned locally sourced fish, meats. and the rice pudding dessert was the perfect finish!nnWe also loved the atmosphere, though patience is needed for the service as it's a small town place.
We had dinner at the Fat Duck during one of our nights in Te Anau. Highly recommend to go here, though reservations in advance are advised because it can become quite busy.nnService was very friendly, a lot of young people are working in this restaurant, which is super fun in my opinion.nnFood was great, maybe the pumpkin gnocchi can be have a bit of a pump up with some spice or extra flavor, but that's very subjective.nnThe atmosphere was nice, but I recommend to place the empty bottles and glasses somewhere else so guests don't have the view on them when having dinner.nnOverall, great experience, highly recommend to visit the Fat Duck during your stay in Te Anau.
We absolutely loved our visits to The Fat Duck Gastropub in Te Anau—so much so that we went back twice during our stay. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear why this place is a local favorite. The setting is quaint and welcoming, with a stunning landscape backdrop that makes it the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed meal or a casual pint.nnThe beer and wine selection is excellent, offering something for every taste. Food-wise, everything we tried was fantastic. The dumplings were packed with flavor, the sautéed greens were perfectly cooked, and the duck fat potatoes were crisp, rich, and downright addictive. The market fish was fresh and beautifully prepared, and the seafood linguini was generous and delicious.nnWhat really ties it all together is the friendly, attentive staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you’re stopping in for dinner or just a drink, The Fat Duck Gastropub delivers great food, great drinks, and a great atmosphere. A must-visit when you’re in Te Anau.
