There are not enough feelings to describe how wonderful the anthology meal at the Fat Duck was. Art meets Magic meets whimsy. Every dish was better than the previous dish. The taste buds were taken on a sensory tour. The meal got super modern and then turned traditional which is a perfect balance. Every element of every plate made sense. EAT HERE, EAT HERE, this place is just simply and absolutely amazing.
Well! What a place! I’ve been fortunate enough to dine in some exceptional restaurants around the world and nothing about The Fat Duck was like anything I’d experienced before. The menu “Sensorium” genuinely provided unique dish after dish and tastes that were a whole new experience. I won’t talk about the menu or individual plates because that should be a personal experience and one that guests should make their own judgment on but I will say we thoroughly enjoyed them all. The wine pairing was very well selected with some Japanese influence. Dishes are served with tricks & surprises and quite often not what they first seem. The service was exceptional, perfectly timed and never too overbearing. Just enough time between plates and never left wondering when the next would arrive. We will go back when there a new menu. One of the best restaurants you’ll ever eat at. Spoiler/heads up. Two guests should be prepared to spend over £1000 if paired with even the standard wine pairing.
Wow, wow, wow! Honestly the best dining experience of my life! From the second you walk through the quaint little door, you're truly in for the experience of a lifetime. The staff were so friendly, yes all of them! Nothing was too much trouble and the way they explained each course, following along with the story telling, was an integral part of the experience. Even the kitchen staff were the best when I got to take a peak at the end of the night. They kindly posed for a photo with me too! The food was on another level, 11 courses of wonderment. The way Heston and his chefs take you on a journey is just magical. From aerated beetroot to set your taste buds alight, to the sound of the sea taking you straight to the beach, all the way to the sweet shop to finish your experience. Each and every step was perfect in every way. The premises were beautiful, of course, and I need the toilet in my life! Now the question is, would I go back? Absolutely I would, but it would need to be a different menu/experience. Only because I wouldn't want to ruin the memory of this one, which was so special to me.
This wasn't just a fabulous meal although it was that too, it was also an incredible culinary experience. The staff explained every course, it's concept and ingredients to make it all the more enjoyable. To top it all off we were invited to see the kitchen in full swing. Yes, it is expensive but even if you only go once in your lifetime you have to do it. Put a visit to The Fat Duck on your bucket list!
My partner and I visited the Fat Duck while we were on an extended Europe trip. While the experience was quite whimsical, we were both a bit disappointed by the food quality / taste especially when you take into account the price point of the meal >£1300. The highlights of the meal for me were the different types of bread and the scallops with caviar. We had great fun decorating the mini Christmas tree as well. I think this is an experience worth doing one time, but perhaps not again.
Took my other half here for a special birthday last month, well worth it. Right from the start the experience was great, greeted outside and entered in to an area closed off from the restaurant before being taken to our table. The atmosphere is quite cosy but the tables are nicely spaced apart, watch out for the beams if you are tall! All of the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable, but not at all pretentious. We spent over 3 hours here, but the time flew past. Reading the guide book between each course was great to find out some additional information about the dishes. Plus, the staff were great at answering any additional questions. Some of the courses were interactive and obviously not everything was what it seemed. All the food was amazing, but it can only reach a certain level, so it was the experience as a whole & the staff that really made it. Yes it's expensive, but we both thoroughly enjoyed our evening in every aspect, well worth it for a special occasion. p.s. visit the toilets!
Magical food and highly attentive service. Food theatre at its finest - some of the menu brought out the best memories of childhood. The level of detail and depth to some of the dishes was incredible. Cheese and grapes was my personal favourite. We paired with the non-alcoholic beverages which were fun.Food: 5/5
There is no doubt some serious skill and dedication was needed to prepare this meal. the dessert alone takes them two weeks to prepare Whilst we enjoyed our meal and experience and the staff were excellent we did feel it perhaps is a bit too gimmicky now. I have to say Bray is beautiful but the restaurant overall is a little pokey cottage - it feels a bit tired to be honest especially when you compare it to Dinner by Heston which we preferred. This was a bucket list experience for us but we felt we enjoyed other Michelin starred meals more - and for that we knocked off a star.
Amazing food and fantastic service nestled away on the high street of a small English country town. Food was spectacular and the Curiosity wine pairing was very interesting. We shared a wine pairing which worked quite well partly because they are free-pours so you probably get a bit more, but mainly because otherwise that’s an atrocious amount of wine!!!. Will come again in a few years - can’t afford to come sooner!!!
Absolutely fantastic food and, just as importantly, experience. And special praise to just how attentive the staff were to my partner who was on crutches. You expect great service but they truly were wonderful. Definitely coming again for the normal menu.
