The Free House Pub

My parents recommended this place after they found it on their tour of New Zealand and it's awesome. Great choice of beers, very friendly staff and a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Dog friendly too and you can bring your own food. Board games are available and the log burner adds plenty of warmth on cold days. Went twice in my short stay in Nelson and will definitely be back when I'm next in town.

Possibly the best pub in the country, definitely the best in Nelson. There's always a great selection of craft beer including hand pumped. There's plenty of outdoor seating and outside food is permitted, the Indian restaurant over the road delivers! Really good staff too.

Excellent location, lots of beers to choose from - Never tried the food.nMy only issue was that there was only ONE local beer from Motueka on tap. All the rest were from Christchurch or the North Island.

The best craft beer venue I have been to! Fantastic collection of beer, friendly staff and a relaxing environment. You have to go there to experience it. A wide range of craft beers to suit your taste. Will visit Nelson again so we can go to The Free House Pub!

Lovely pub in Nelson to grab beer or wine! One of the best Sauvignon Blancs I’ve had in New Zealand, along with a great beer selection from their own brewery and locals’! We loved the atmosphere and service so much we came twice during our time in the city :
