I've been a regular at Archive since it opened and love it. The wines Grahams knowledge is encyclopedic, food great and generous selection of cheeses/charcuterie and accompaniments and the more recent expansion of the menu to more substantial offerings and the service are all top notch. I've also been to many of the special wine events and found them great value and a lot of fun. I even hosted a significant birthday for myself there last year for 60 people and Ingrid and the team were incredibly helpful and a delight to work with for all aspects of the event. It was a special afternoon. Highly recommend.
Graham at Archive wine bar organised a private tasting for our local wine group. The theme was “A taste of Italy” Graham selected the wines and then matched them perfectly with food. It was both delicious and educational. We tasted amazing wines that we would not normally drink. Graham’s knowledge of wine is impeccable. Our group of 10 had a fabulous night. All the wines tasted were also available to purchase at exceptionally affordable prices. It was overall a sensational experience. We are already planning our next theme.
Oh WOW. The best tapes style food, excellent choice of many wines by the glass, reasonable prices. Although renowed for the wine this bar has added the wonderful talents of chef Blade. His passion oozed as he presented the exquisite food and blend of textures and taste sensations. This place is a must to enjoy if you like the very best of food, wine and hospitality. Thanks you for the great experience.
So many wines on tap its going to take me a while to go through the entire list! They offer 75ml tasting glasses too. Will be back for sure.Food: 4/5
not a bad drinking hole, need some american beers Budweiser/ Coors / Pabst ect Craft beers are ok, but deep down we all know they are over rated. anyway, Bonedigger, Bonedigger.
Service was just amazing. Water was topped up as soon as a glass was finished. We ordered three small plates and they were really generous! One of the few places I've been that actually gives you enough bread with the cheeses/dips. Super impressive range of drinks including every type of wine ever made, spirits and cocktails.
I had my 40th birthday there. It was an excellent venue and the staff were wonderful. We had the whole back area, however, it had been raining so we used mostly the shed. Staff had put up umbrellas to ensure there was enough undercover space and wiped everything down before guests arrived. Great choices for food and wine and all around a perfect way to celebrate with friends and family. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options
Can't fault the place. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly, and are willing to help in whatever way they can. Best selection of wines in Geelongs hands down, and their platters are amazing. Such a lovely warm atmosphere. My favourite place for a wine in Geelong!
I recently organised a small function at Archive for a group of about 14 people. Everything was organised over email with Ingrid who was so helpful, responsive and accomodating. We were situated in the “shed” area of the venue which was warm despite it being wet and cold outside. The grazing platters, snacks and food were fabulous as were the recommended wines-all of it being so affordable. Big thanks to the staff working that evening, they were all so welcoming, lovely and attentive & made our night so enjoyable. We will definitely be returning. Thanks again!
I would love to share more... But this was my first visit under the recommendation of my brother who's been a few times now. It was very quiet probably due to the fact that most of Geelong, especially Cats supporters were nursing a well-earned post-Grand Final hang-over. i.e. Everywhere was quiet on Sunday 25 September. It's a modest-sized wine bar, hidden in plane sight on High Street in old Belmont, first and foremost. So, you could forgive them for being quiet after such a big day in Geelong. But that said, the staff were absolutely amazing; professional, courteous, attentive and really knowledgeable with their drinks and meal menu. The atmosphere, albeit quiet was still warm and inviting. I can imagine it having a completely different vibe though when packed on a busy night; filled to the brim with patrons inside and out back in their gardens/courtyard. There's a variety of different seating options from 2 people tables through through larger group seating too. There is a fantastic choice of vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as a few interesting omnivore dishes too. The meals were presented well. Reasonably priced, although this might be interpreted differently; person-to-person? I think it's definitely worth returning to on a busier day/night to see if the service, food and atmosphere are any different, and hopefully even better? But so far, so good!
