My friend took me here and I didn't expect that would be such superb experience. Loved their plum wine tasting. Just perfect to go with our 7 course Degustation. The food reminds me real Asia taste and the presentation is definitely up-class. For the money we've paid, i would highly recommend this place to anyone to enjoy a fine dinning experience. Definitely 5 stars!

One of the most beautiful Japanese restaurants in Auckland. Not just that they have beautifully creative dishes, they also gets the basics right which is where a lot of modern or fusion cuisine fall short. The modern dishes have layers of flavours which aren't too complicated and just enough for you to tell them apart. To be honest I'm sad to see them leaving Auckland but I know I can always find them in Queenstown.

Constantly consistent modern take on Japanese food. Delicious modern takes on the classics and fusion with other international cuisines. Must try is the Soft Shell Crab and the Gnocchi.

Loved it! Lived in Japan for years and this was authentic - food was so good and beautifully presented. Went here for the set lunch and oysters. Food was delicious, beautifully presented, beautiful decor and awesome service. Prompt, courteous and great deal. We're coming back regularly. Highly recommend!

I remember going to this place when it was in Christchurch and being impressed enough to recommend it. The food is very nice and there are some cute and earnest breaks from tradition... Like the palette cleanser / appetizer of a small piece of tempura fish between meals. And the design of the dishes is remarkable. But... It's not quite there. Very important to me is a sense of comfort when I'm eating out. Rectangular sushi is not comfortable in the mouth. When oysters are served on spoons they're really hard to serve to yourself when the handles are facing you. Have the wait staff ever been given the chance to test how the food is served and give feedback? Bet you $100 the answer's no. Cool venue the old cafe Rikka and good service. Just not perfect.

Went here last night with 3 friends and have the banquet for 4. Seriously amazing food and service. Every single meal was so delicious, we couldn't stop raving about it. Top quality fresh food cooked perfectly, well done tatsumi for pleasing this tough Japanese food critic! Definitely be back :

This place is a hidden gem. The food is very fusion but elegant rather than try hard. Small portions but very filling. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt and excellent. My favourites on the menu are their beef tataki with ponzu gelee gorgeous savoury little morsels, the tempura bluff oysters perfect! and their green tea fondant for dessert sounds weird but it is mouth wateringly good. They also have a comprehensive and delicious cocktail menu. I have been 4 times already since discovering it and am going back there for my birthday next week. You will not be disappointed!

Modern style Japanese food. Not overly expensive but it is on the high side although quality is high and I would rather pay a little more for the best quality. Overall a great experience.

Great authentic interior, good range of very tasty food. Smart and classy yet still a somewhat casual location. Definitely recommend.
