Pretty nice experience at Pothichor. Although it is not something that goes according to my taste but the food was good. Good portion size and price is reasonable. We had masala dosa and idli. Nice interior and pretty clean. The waiting time was too long for us. People who love South Indian food must give it a shot. Just not my cup of tea. Best wishes
I have been in search for good keralan food as I have been craving. I have worked with a lot of lovely people from Kerala whilst in Kuwait and they have introduced me to the wonderful, tasty Keralan cuisine. Since moving to NZ 8 years ago, the closest I could get to that taste is going to local indian takeaways, until Pothichor came. Wow! Just mind blown. Beautiful food! Very delicious, and perhaps I can say authentic. The depth of flavor is comforting. The seasoning is just right. Temperature is just right. For first timers I suggest you try the Pothichor, it is a good introduction to Keralan food with it's different viand over rice. If you are unsure how to eat the other items on the menu like dosa, puttu, idli all delicious btw, search a video in youtube, it'll show you. Their sambar and coconut chutney are the best I ever had in Christchurch! Looking forward to trying their Parotta with curry next time. This place is a marvel, feels like home cooking---you can feel the food. Whoever the chef is, kudos to you. The lady who took my order was pleasant. They are available in uber eats, and also posts their daily menu in facebook. I am hooked and addicted. Too happy with their food that I just needed to post this. Thanks Pothichor and keep on going! The only reason I only put 4 stars is because the interior of the resto could do some work, and no dessert in the menu. Yet in saying so, this does not affect the wonderful food they serve. Food and service I will rate 10/5 if I can.
Absolutely amazing. Super authentic and great staff. If you are away from home and missing home then this is a must try. The food is so wholesome and feels like it’s made with so much love. Must try ! it’s a South Indian cuisine.
Second time going, great customer service and the best south indian food. If you want Dosa or idli or the most amazing parontha!! Come here!!! Gonna look forward to coming back to Christchurch just for this.

Authentic kerala food available. Better to order over phone before dining in. Pothichor is a must try dish.
Am please to have found this place, on the recommendation of family friends from south India, as the food is very authentic, tasty, healthy and delicious. They have a small menu of all the favourite dishes from Kerala, changing regularly and during the day different servings. I had the kadala curry in a bowl with 3 Paratha, the curry nicely flavoured, the breads as light and flakey as I have had this side of Kochi. Prices are reasonable, staff very friendly, there is seating inside and a few out, and judging from the number of Indian people calling in for takeaways, this is great choice for genuine South Indian - good location on Riccarton Road, near Wharenui and Clyde roads. They also do falafel and that kind of food, which I haven't tried, but I will be back for more. My photo is of before the place started in late 2020.
