Pomeroys Old Brewery Inn

Have come to this pub several times for work events and to hang out with colleagues. Fantastic layout and atmoshere, inside nice and warm in winter and outside area has plenty of ventilation and shade in summer. All manner of beer types on tap inc the sometimes-elusive low carb options, great food, and the free baskets of chips and bread they hand out in the evenings is a nice and generous touch!

I cannot rate this place highly enough. The staff are friendly, attentive, and incredibly observant. On my first visit, I mentioned to Courtney our waitress that I’m coeliac, and she immediately brought out the gluten-free menu — which I really appreciated. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere is great.nWhat truly impressed me was that months later, when I returned with my husband and we sat down, Courtney walked straight over with the allergen menu without me saying a word. I couldn’t believe she remembered! That level of care and attention is so rare.nEvery staff member I’ve encountered has been exceptional. It’s become a major go-to for me, and I recommend it to everyone.

We ate at the restaurant and Im so glad we did the pub is cozy and very clean and well decorated plenty of seating inside and out they have a huge selection of craft beers on tap. The one we tried was very good. The food was the highlight my husband had the ribeye and I had the burger and he said it was the best steak he has had in a long time my burger was the best burger I have had in New Zealand very flavorful and perfectly seasoned for both fries we’re yummy as well . 5 stars for food and the service was great! Wish it wasn’t our last night in Christchurch or we would’ve come back.

On the record, our favourite pub in the ENTIRE country!! We live in Whakatū Nelson but will make the trip out to get our Pomeroy’s fix. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, truly the heart of a perfect pub. The joy that comes from warm lighting, classic brick walls, and the gorgeous doggies that sit at the feet of their owners just enjoying a night at the pub - truly couldn’t ask for anything better. The menu is and always has been the best! Perfectly cooked steaks and the most delicious cauliflower burgers! Have talked a lot about moving so we can spend more time here :’ WE LOVE YOU FOREVER POMEROY’S!!!

Good beer selection including their own and various others. I have been half a dozen times and have enjoyed the choices. Inside is good in crappy weather and the patio is perfect in the sun. Also I have always got a park across the street.
