Mona Vale Park is such a beautiful and peaceful place in Christchurch. It feels like a little escape from the city - full of greenery, open spaces, and a calm atmosphere.nnWe visited in autumn, so we were lucky to enjoy all the bright, vibrant colors - the trees looked absolutely stunning, and it made the whole park feel even more magical.nnThe gardens are very well maintained, with so many lovely spots to walk around and relax. The river running through the park adds a special charm, and there are plenty of scenic corners that are perfect for photos.nnIt’s a great place for a quiet walk, a picnic, or just to enjoy nature. I also think it’s perfect for photoshoots - the light, the scenery, and the variety of backgrounds make it really versatile.nnOverall, such a relaxing and beautiful park. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Christchurch
Staying locally for a few days we found this awesome park. It was a first time visit to this area and the gardens didn't disappoint.nOur late Autumn visit revealed an abundance of glorious colours in the afternoon sun.nA lovely cafe with outside seating enabled us to enjoy a nice drink after our walk.nThe park is also dog friendly on a lead ....certainly worth the visit.
Mona Vale Park was pointed out to us to visit while staying in Lyttelton. It wasnVery easy to get to and the Avon stream running through the park gave it a peaceful feeling. The Fernery was closed so dissapointed about that. But on the whole a lovely place to walk through. The teanrooms also looked inviting, but also closed as we were there after 3pn
Stunning gardens. Immaculately kept and cared for. Including a rose garden, fernery a large Lily pond and more. Spectacular for photos and dogs are welcome on a leash. Such a delight to visit.
It was really nice when I came here 15 years ago, and today, February 22, 2026, is a very beautiful and cosy garden. At that time, I also took a boat ride, but this time I couldn't watch the ducks playing freely. I won't forget it when I go back to Korea.
