We stopped in at the Makana Boutique Chocolate Factory today and honestly, it was the highlight of our day! As a chocolate connoisseur who grew up on German, Swiss and Belgian chocolate I can honestly say Makana’s products are at the same level- such excellent chocolates!nnThe place itself has a really nice, welcoming, relaxed feel—small and not overly commercial. The staff were all super friendly right from the start and happily offered two tastings, which were very smooth and tasty! Our favorite was the Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch. AMAZING!!!nnIt’s the kind of place where you go in thinking you’ll just look around and grab one or two things and end up leaving with a bag full because it’s all way better than you expected and you need them as gifts for all your friends and family.nnIt is also cool being able to see the chocolate-making happening—it gives you a real appreciation for all the work that goes into it and the people behind the product. We couldn’t believe that there were several employees working in the production area even on a Sunday.nnOverall, a very enjoyable stop which paired so beautifully with our visits to a couple of wineries in the Blenheim area. Highly recommended as a visit even if you’re not already in the area.
delicious delicious chocolate! staff are friendly and knowledgeable, constantly giving out free sample and it works! so tasty we ended up bought a few! the place smell amazing especially when they are making the brittle in the kitchen. highly recommended the Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch!!
Love Matakana chocolate factory,nWe normally buy online and get it delivered but it was nice to finally come in store and see how everything is made.nChocolates are on the expensive side, but it’s well worth it.nCaramel popcorn is my favourite, but everything is very delicious.nYou won’t be disappointed.nHighly recommended
Amazing place for chocolate lovers! The chocolates are fresh, rich, and absolutely delicious. Beautiful store and great quality products — definitely worth a visit.
Awesome market.. Walked around bought too much... There are a lot to see especially in a Saturday.. Food is greatnJust had a snack on the chia seed count yogurt with most gorgeous colors on top.. Yummy indeed
