Great location and comfortable, clean pods. Found the ventilation better than the Aukland LyLo, although fans are a little loud. I prefer that over sweltering heat though. No excuse for how grubby the bathrooms are - a hard broom / scrubbing brush and soapy water would go a long way. Looks like they just get a spray and wipe. Disabled bathroom was atrocious - black mould and pink mould caused by bodily fluids everywhere. Doesn’t even have a toilet paper dispenser and the tap wasn’t working as in no water. One bathroom I used had a pad wrapper and a used pregnancy test on the ground, and no sanitary bin, despite it being labelled as a women’s bathroom. Also booked a late checkout for 1pm today have this in my booking confirmation, but I had someone knocking on my pod and pushing back my blind at 10:50am. Pod blinds were also tricky to use eventually got the hang of it and loud. Could do with some felt stickers on the inside where they bang against the inside of the pod. Would also love to see some additional handrails for upper pods. Ultimately had a pretty decent stay - would be back if I couldn’t get anything else, or if cleanliness went up a notch.
- bedsheets had stains onn- Wifi didn’t work at all on floor 2 so had to use mobile data. Very slow even if it does work.n- fan is incredibly loud in the pod, but without fan the pod is boilingn- Kitchen is very small and utensils and cooking equipment felt very dirtyn- Only 4 washing machines and several are out of service , so only a few can be used at one time which is not ideal when you need laundry doing quickly and there’s a huge queue of people waiting to use it. Dryer also takes an hour and often clothes are still wet after itn- No places to sit and eat near the kitchen, the only place is the rooftop bar which u have to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to. Not really ideal to have to carry food and drinks up 3 flights of stairs, especially if you’re in a rush to eat.n- Only floors one and two have bathrooms, and the bathrooms are very small with the women’s toilets on floor one only having 1 sink and 2 toilets, and not at all enough space to move around in.n- Personally I believe it’s a very overpriced hostel considering the quality of the facilities. A huge disappointment especially compared to how good lylo auckland is.
Pods are comfortable and equipped with charging points as well as shelves for your stuff, and there is lockers underneath. The room and pod was clean and tidy. Unfortunately that is where the good things end though, as the blinds and locker doors are metal, they are clunky and loud everytime someone moves around.nThe bathrooms are too small, with only one sink, and not clean. The kitchen also looked messy, though I didn't really use it.nOverall, it just felt like everything was designed by someone who has never stayed in a hostel. I would stay somewhere else next time.
The pods are nice but not when on the top bunk. I like how they give you a bit of privacy.nnThe kitchen is absolutely disgusting and way too small for the number of rooms. As are the bathrooms and floors in the halls.nnHave stayed in Lylo in Auckland and that is 100 times nicer than here.
We stayed in a compact private queen room with an attached bathroom, which is okay for a short 2-night stay for two people. The room served its purpose for rest and getting ready to explore. The hotel also offers luggage storage option after checkout which is an added advantage. However, the centralized air conditioning was a drawback, requiring us to ask staff to adjust the temperature whenever it got too hot. Overall, it was a decent stay.
