If the only thing you care about in a hostel is having a bed with a curtain, then this place is for you. Because everything else is an absolute disaster.nThe kitchen is microscopic for over 60 rooms: no oven, just 8 stovetops and one lonely microwave. There’s no dining room; instead, there’s a bar on the fourth floor where you’re expected to eat whatever you cooked in the kitchen on the first floor… yes, three flights of stairs with your plate in hand, as if it were part of the fun.nOn my floor there were more than 10 rooms but only one sink in the bathroom. Incredible, right?nAnd the cherry on top: by 6 p.m. the showers run out of hot water because the boiler simply can’t keep up. So get ready to “enjoy” a refreshing ice-cold shower in the middle of winter, on the house.nOverpriced, uncomfortable, and terrible service. What a deal. I don’t recommend it.
First off the hostel itself is amazing! Location excellent, internal room no window was great! Small space but enough for 2 people and plenty of storage under the bed, large tv and good bathroom, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Due to flight impacts we needed to book another room and chose the balcony as it was available. This room was spacious and beautiful, extra luxury. The staff here are very friendly and helpful! I’m not sure why other feedback states otherwise as we got in at 10pm and they were very accomodating from the time we walked in from the time we left. Even let us check in to our last room straight away instead of waiting till 3pm.nThe kitchen wasn’t as small as I was expecting from other feedback but I could see how it might get busy if a lot of people are cooking at once.nTop floor is a perfect hangout spot. Pool table, vending machine, and a beautiful outdoor area with fireplace. There’s also a few board games.nMore over we unfortunately had an incident on our part, but long story short the staff were so helpful, so kind, I really couldn’t speak highly enough about them! From storing my luggage for me as I wasn’t sure how to get it when we needed to leave abruptly. From dealing with an incident long after midnight, they were patient, caring and understanding!nStewart, thanks to you my partner eventually pulled through, you were fast and knew exactly what to do in an emergency, you saved his life! He doesn’t remember any of it but you will forever be in our debt. Thank you so much!!
Really enjoyable stay. Great location- close to everything particularly ski shuttle. Pod rooms are great quite hot at night, storage lockers fit a reasonable sized suitcase. Good vibes overall
pretty awful experience overall for what could be a nice place. the vacuum cleaner was being used at 8am in the breakfast area around me as I’m having breakfast, and running at about 7pm near the bedrooms, the kitchen is way too small and the whole place feels crammed and stressful. the rooms are heated way too high, and although the beds are comfy and the pods are private and nice, I won’t be returning to Lylo. the staff member wasn’t super responsive to my feedback, the check-in process feels pretty flawed, being impersonal and incomplete using a tablet with a staff member floating around near you.
Currently booked in from 18-20.3 and it’s been a nightmare so far.nnThe shared rooms are overly hot with a weird heating system. Although you have your own fan in the pod it is way too warm and there is no decent air quality in the pod.nnIt is loud, people are not very considerate and the doors shut so loudly that it’s impossible to get a decent sleep.nnI have stayed in another hostel across the road to an Irish bar here in Queenstown and there you get better value for the same money or less.nnThe kitchen here is way too small, it’s crowded. Not enough cooking space on level 1.nnOnly 3toilets and a couple showers for ladies on level 1 + 2 +4. Definitely not enough for the amount of guests staying, it’s not very clean. Although they offer a dryer and straightener.nnThe storage space in the rooms are big enough for a big bag pack and you can also leave your stuff in a secured locker room.nnI cannot recommend and won’t be staying a second night if I can avoid it.
