Crowne Plaza Queenstown, an IHG Hotel

My husband and I stayed at Crowne Plaza Queenstown over the New Year period with my parents, from 31 December for 3 nights, in two Lakeside King rooms. We have visited Queenstown multiple times and have stayed at the Crowne Plaza five times.nnDespite booking as soon as bookings opened for this period about a year in advance and showing this degree of loyalty to the hotel, the hotel was not able to accommodate two very basic requests: the floor we asked for and rooms side by side. We requested the 5th floor and were placed on the 4th. We understand rooms cannot be guaranteed, but with that much notice it was disappointing to not even be given adjacent rooms. We were told that if we wanted rooms side by side we would need to move to the 2nd floor, which felt like an unreasonable trade-off and a strange way to separate a family travelling together.nnThe view we got was still lovely, looking over Lake Wakatipu. The rooms themselves are okay, but nothing special for the price, and the service is not amazing. The main reason we have kept returning over the years is the hotel's location.nnUnfortunately, the overall experience now feels complacent. The hotel seems happy to charge premium rates ~750/night/room for each of ours for very average rooms and below average customer service, riding off their location and name recognition. With Roki Collection having opened literally a minute’s walk away, we will likely stay there next time.nnOne specific operational issue was parking. You can only access your car via valet, and the time to retrieve the car varied from 10 to 25 minutes. On one occasion we waited 15 minutes and had to remind staff because they had forgotten, which nearly made us late for a hard-to-get dinner reservation.nnGreat location, but increasingly hard to justify given the service.

Booked two nights and asked for a balcony thinking it would have views to the lake… It didn’t! Only views to the breakfast buffet and courtyard. Parking valet was super fast and staff very friendly. Jamaica was very nice and everyone at the breakfast service too. Breakfast itself a bit average but varied. Location is great but make sure you book a room with views.

Excellent lakefront stay in the heart of Queenstown. Views over the lake and The Remarkables are stunning. Dinner at the Threesixty Restaurant and Bar on-site was one of the best had during our stay. Exceptional service by Jess and Rabea, both assisting during our stay and going above expectations.nnThe two twin beds were huge, the room was comfortably heated, bathroom clean with quality toiletries provided and an excellent tea / coffee making station. The complimentary hot chocolate in the foyer was welcomed after being out and about during the day.nWill definitely return!

Our stay at Crowne Queenstown was simply wonderful! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, friendly, attentive and genuinely helpful. The food was outstanding with a great variety and delicious flavours that we thoroughly enjoyed. The views from the hotel are breathtaking, truly a highlight of our trip, making every meal and moment extra special.nnWhile the rooms are slightly outdated, they were more than adequate, comfortable and clean, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Overall, Crowne Queenstown offers an exceptional experience with top notch service, amazing food, and unforgettable views. We can’t wait to return!

We had a wonderful time at the Crowne Plaza. Nice room view, great location, but the staff really made the stay wonderful, they were so accommodating! Also having a laundry room in the hotel is rare and was a big plus!
