Excellent location. Friendly staff. We were upgraded on arrival to a Balcony Room over looking the lake so that was greatly appreciated. Right across the road from the lake and eating and only a few minutes to CBD shopping.nBreakfast was well worth it and they have Barista Coffee at breakfast as well at no cost as part of breakfast.nRoom was quiet and comfortable and warm and good flow of hot water in the shower/bath.nPrice was on par with other places.
While the initial allure of breathtaking views fell short of expectations, the room itself offered ample space and a well-appointed bathroom, adhering to the standards one would expect from a quality hotel. Regrettably, the absence of complimentary breakfast was a downside, compounded by the discovery that the available vegetarian options on the menu were limited and priced at a premium. Moreover, the additional charge for parking, amounting to approximately $30 NZD per day, was coupled with the inconvenience of having to notify staff 5-10 minutes prior to departure to ensure the car's readiness.nnDespite these shortcomings, the staff's consistent display of courtesy and friendliness contributed positively to our overall experience. However, the hotel's most notable asset undoubtedly lies in its prime location—a mere 2-minute stroll from Shotover Street, a vibrant thoroughfare teeming with upscale boutiques and captivating recreational attractions. This strategic positioning renders the hotel an ideal launching pad for immersing oneself in the essence of New Zealand's offerings. While the accommodation may have faltered in certain aspects, its close proximity to the epicenter of activity undoubtedly bolsters its appeal for travelers seeking both convenience and accessibility during their sojourns.
This hotel exceeded expectations by a lot!! The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff went over and above to help and provided great advice on activities and where to visit. We only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was delicious and very good value for money. As for location, it was perfect. It also had great laundry facilities!! We couldn't fault the Crowne Plaza.
I am an amputee and part time wheelchair user. Very unimpressed with this hotel.nn ROOM Pays lip service to disability access at best. Small less than obvious rise into bathroom, no cavity slider door, very slippy tiles and a dangerously placed glass shower divider meant I tripped, slipped and cut my toe open. Balcony completely inaccessible to a wheelchair user. Housekeeping even walked in on us without knocking on one occasion.nn I raised the issues with hotel staff on check out. They gave me loyalty points I later find out I can’t use at this hotel. Next time I tried to book, I find out a disabled room costs more than a regular room and isn’t available for me to book specifically. It seems anyone can book them, disabled or not, they are not set aside specifically for disabled guests.nn location is great, close to the wharf and the waterfront. So it’s a shame so many other things were wrong.nn‼I would discourage other disabled travellers from booking this hotel & it is definitely not worth the costs they charge per room, per night.nnVIDEO LINK TO MY FULL REVIEW: https://youtu.be/8a0B5JGpMMg?si=86zZNnZNIIzWfJC0
Wonderful staff great view and quiet. Perfect location. I found other hotels even more expensive ones don’t have the view and were very loud at night with late night life.nComing back with family. Thank you for the best stay. Cheers
