Locals Cafe

I was very impressed with the overall experience at Locals. My food was beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. The staff were under a lot of pressure as the place was nearly full, but they didn’t panic once, the service was fast and friendly. We weren’t able to finish our meals as they were so plentiful, so I asked for two takeaway containers. The cardboard takeaway containers were given with a smile and no extra charge was made. I didn’t see any unhappy customers in the time I was there. Such a nice buzz about the place. The only thing I can fault was our iced chocolate and iced coffees coming out in plastic takeaway cups, it would have been nice to have them in a glass cup, and also better for the environment. However with being so popular and busy I can understand that making them in plastic cups may contribute to keeping wait times down as there would be less dishes. I was very happy with the short wait for our meals. I will be back, with more friends next time.

Family friendly!! Great spot to eat even better if you have children as the play area caters well to young children and the space for that is great! The colouring in books are a marvellous idea for older children. Food was great and at a friendly price, staff were great as was our coffee highly recommend, we will be back!

It is one of the busiest cafes in New Plymouth.nnThe menu has a good selection and prices are okay.nnSince it was busy, we had to literally call people to clean our table. While the service staff took the used crockery and cutlery, they had to be called again to clean the table. The cutlery we were given was not clean, but was changed instantly when requested.nnThe staff which came to serve were friendly and served with a smile. I may be wrong, but on the day it was an all women team managing the cafe and they were good with it. Kudos nThe food was good and the portion size is decent.nnI loved the vibe of this place. It had enough seating. There are two indoor areas and two outdoor areas.

Employees on Sunday aren't smiling I feel sorry for the manager, food takes forever and the plump person is willing to fight you than try to calm the customer, this ain't customer friendly, I feel sorry for the employer.nCan you replace your employees to have better customer service and can they do the first in first out basis? Not on how complex the menu is, then if you can't fulfill the menu, then don't offer the menu, just shut down and be a bakery instead, you guys even ruined the inca coffee beans that I love, the bakery and takeaways have a better customer experience than with you.nMaybe its time to downgrade to a bakery instead of a restaurant

Brunch with friends. The kids area is great. Very handy.nnUnfortunately, a 15 minute wait in a queue just to order food plus 30 mins for it to arrive and a mushroom benedict dish literally only having two mushrooms is enough for us to not come back.
