La Spiaggia

This is a good old-fashioned Italian restaurant with a lovely sea view. It was very busy on a Friday evening, so bookings are highly recommended.nnI ordered the seafood pasta, which came with a very rich tomato sauce—perhaps a little too rich for my taste—and unfortunately one of the king prawns wasn’t very fresh. On the other hand, the saffron risotto special was very tasty and well executed. Portions are generous.nnThe real standout for me was the Nutella cheesecake—absolutely delicious and perfectly paired with the dessert wine. Prices are also very reasonable.nnWhile this isn’t a destination for refined, top-tier Italian cuisine, it delivers comforting, traditional Italian food in large portions, making it a place I’d happily return to.

Been there many times, every time we will try different pizza and pasta. They all very nice.nYesterday we ordered the pork rib from the Special Menu, the mashed potatoes were delicious but the ribs…… difficult to give comment, definitely not good but also not very bad, not worth for $55 :

I initially tried to make a booking online but received an email saying they were fully booked. I ended up calling and the amazing host that they are managed to get a reservation for my daughter’s 18th birthday without any issues for a slightly later time.nWe ordered a bunch of entree and it all came out soo good. The food does take time but it’s a nice dining experience-not rushed. The Pork belly bites came out a little too over done and we asked for some sauce to go with it as it was dryer then usual- having been our first time we didn’t know what to expect but we knew that generally Pork belly bites are nice and crunch but soft.. without any hassle and even having asked we got a new set delivered to the table.nThe mains came out in good time as well and all of the mains were top notch when it came to authenticity.nWe got some limoncello shots on the house at the end which was a sweet surprise. Over all a great experience and we are definitely going again for our Italian fix if we want to go local.nI didn’t get the name of the person serving us but it seems like she is either the manager or the owner. If you know her you know she’s a gem.

The food was really delicious, but the service was not great. We were seated in a corner last night, and no one came to check on us or ask how our food was throughout the whole meal. I did notice the waitress checking on other nearby tables, which made us feel a bit ignored. Hopefully the service can be improved to match the quality of the food.

The food was incredible and the staff was excellent. They accommodated us even though we didn’t have a reservation. Made us feel like family. The view was lovely. Best food we ate in New Zealand!
