Kauri Glen Walkway is one of Auckland's hidden gems and a perfect escape from the busy city. Even though it is only a short drive from the CBD, it feels like stepping into a completely different world. The moment you enter the trail, you are surrounded by native New Zealand forest, with towering kauri trees, lush ferns, and the relaxing sound of birds singing. It is an ideal place to disconnect, enjoy nature, and slow down for a while.nThe walkway itself is well maintained and easy to follow. There are boardwalks, wooden bridges, and gentle paths that make the walk suitable for most people, including families and anyone looking for a peaceful stroll. The stream running through the reserve adds to the atmosphere, and there are plenty of spots where you can stop to admire the scenery or simply listen to the water flowing.nOne of the highlights of the walk is seeing the impressive kauri trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. Information signs along the trail explain the importance of protecting these magnificent trees from kauri dieback disease, reminding visitors to clean their shoes before and after entering the reserve. It is encouraging to see how seriously conservation is taken here.nAlthough the trail is not very long, it offers a rewarding experience. Every corner reveals something different, from beautiful native plants to small waterfalls and peaceful picnic areas. The track can become a little muddy after heavy rain, so wearing suitable footwear is a good idea.
I found this place to be the second most beautiful natural place after Rotorua's Redwood tree walk. You don't need a ticket to get in here, it's completely free. It is located in the Northcote area of Auckland.nThe Kauri Glen Walkway is a very beautiful reserve. A 60m treetop boardwalk sits 18m above the ground. It gives you a birds-eye view of the trees. This bush covered reserve features mature kauri and tānekaha, including some that are between 300 and 400 years old.nTakes only 30 minutes to walk around. The paths are well maintained, making it easy and enjoyable for all ages. There is a newly constructed high wooden bridge which is a main attraction of this walkway. You can hear a variety of birds chirping around.nThere is limited street parking available around the reserve.
Never knew there were kauri trees so close to Auckland. So beautiful and peaceful with all the birdsongs. So amazing. A relaxing walk with some steps and a bit uphill depending where you want to go.
Nice walkway in the middle of suburbia. Lots of Native birds and bush to enjoy. The bridge across the gully through the treetops was a highlight.
Among some of the most beautiful city walks that I have seen around New Zealand. Please do come and visit if you are able to do so. It's BEAUTIFUL! Can get a bit busy on good weather days.
