Kauri Glen walkway

This walkway is a pleasant surprise. While short, its beauty makes up for its lack of length. The council has done a good job in creating a well-maintained and attractive space.

Short walk and will take you 30 minutes back and forth each path. Has wooden tracks that are safe for prams and scooters but some tracks are hilly and has stairways.nIt is a well maintained walkway in the middle of a busy city.nParking is easy on weekdays, plenty of street parks but probably can be full on weekends.nChoose a road that you want to park and the central boardwalk is a good meet up point.

Short walk in the bush that's not a loop, so you'll likely walk back the way you went in unless you intend to visit a nearby street.nnThe bridge is very high and bounces and sways a little as people walk across it, which is a little unnerving at first but it does appear well built.nnCouldn't hear or spot any animals, apart from someone's dog not on a leash, but I imagine it would be quite nice if the trees were filled with birdsong.

This is a nice walkway amongst the dense bush in the Birkenhead area.nWe entered via the Tui Glen Road entrance.nThere are the standard Kauri dieback shoe cleaning stations installed on the entrance.nThere is a newly constructed high wooden bridge which is a main attraction of this walkway.nThere are a few stairs and the walk is easy to moderate in terms of difficult levels.nThe kids also enjoy it a lot.nOne can hear a variety of birds chirping around and easily forget that it is a a busy part of the suburban area in a city.nThere are entry points via Kauri Glen Road and Lake Road too.nHighly recommended for a couple of hour's outing.

Beautiful trees and great bridge walkway. It isn't a loop track so we walked to the big bridge and then back and down part of the walkway. Only part is accessible friendly with the bridge
