We come to Ichigo Ichie regularly. If you value quality ingredients, a warm welcoming atmosphere then I highly recommend eating here. We normally take a Tapas approach and order the small plates, have draught Asahi each, and maybe a cheeky Sake to share. But Saturday we decided to try the Gyukatsu steak dish. Personally I don’t think it’s expensive. It’s an experience and a fun dish, as you cook your beautifully prepared steak on the hot stone. There are side dishes of pickles, rice and a crunch salad with delicious sauces as an accompaniment. Times are hard for small local restaurants. These guys have kept their standards, quality of ingredients and continue to offer fabulous service. Support local, so we can continue to be able to have these great local restaurants. Highly recommend.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We've thought about about going here for a while and we finally went- it was well worth it! Thanks for the amazing food & friendly service. A gem in the bays. Highly recommend.
Great vibe! Very friendly staff members. The food was good too. I’d recommend the beef main.
I just had my first experience at Ichigo Ichie and it exceeded all expectations.nI’d been told so many amazing things about this restaurant and all I can say is WOW.nnWe started with the cabbage salad, pork dumplings, tempura cauliflower, and ugly chicken to share. All were amazing but the stand out was the tempura cauliflower for me.nnFor mains we shared the beef, chili chicken, and chicken yakisoba. All three were sooooo good, my fave was the beef.nnHeaps of veg options if you’re that way inclined, and they were fantastic about my peanut allergy.nnI also had the peach cocktail which was so light and fresh.nnService is so good, and the team running the place care so much about the customer.nnOverall, best Japanese in Auckland. And will be back in a heartbeat. Arigatou gozaimasu!
Very good food and decent atmosphere but extremely slow service. I guess they were short staffed in the kitchen but there was no explanation or updates as to when food would be coming. Our table of 6 had to wait for 30+ minutes for 2 identical dishes and meant everybody pretty much had to wait and watch others eat. And one main course took so long to arrive, finding out it was completely forgotten. We’d have thought they might have at least offered a complementary miso soup or something, but nothing. Would love to recommend as had such high hopes based on reviews but not sure we’d go back.
