Hoyts Wairau Park

Wonderful experience. The quality of the screen, sound and seating are superb.

Small cinema and slightly outdated. Few seats can eb chosen when you want an eye level towards the screen but mostly cramped seats at the bottom which people does not prefer more often. Service is okay, food selections are better, movie sound is about 7/10, screen quality 7/10.

The worst cinema experience ever. I went to Hoyts Wairau to watch Avatar 2 at 3pm on Christmas. A lady who sat a row down diagonally kept checking her phone every 5 minutes for an hour and half with full brightness. And the people who sat with her didn’t tell her off at all. So I couldn’t stand her and had to tell her stop using her phone. Then the movie was going alright, but all of a sudden in the middle of the movie, the cinema went bright with all the lights on. I thought it was emergency or something. But the movie didn’t stop and people had to watch the movie under the bright lights for around 10 minutes. I was so frustrated. And after the movie finished, I thought there would be at least apologies. But there was no apology or refund, and a guy tried to complain about it to the staff but one of the staff ended up swearing at him. The movie was really great but it’s the worst cinema experience ever.

The place is nice and neat, the toilets clean and you can even get pizza or garlic bread before the movie. Was a very pleasant experience after not having gone for such a long time.

Good experience. A suggestion would be to remind people to exercise some common courtesy and that they there to watch a movie and not to annoy other patrons with talking during the movie. Thanks.

Clean and very comfortable reclining chair

I don’t usually write complaints but had to as the presentation and service of this cinema is awful. Came at 7:30pm and there is rubbish all through the arcade and in the lobby. Bathrooms are filthy and you can tell that it hasn’t been cleaned throughout the day. The staff weren’t friendly either when purchasing tickets or changing notes for coins as the change machine was out of change. Recliner arm rests and the drinks holder had sticky residue all over it. Won’t be coming back to this location and will go back to the Sylvia park branch. Disappointing experience.

Hosts is a pretty good picture theater with good recliner seats for every on not just gold class. Only complaint is the snacks and drinks is so expensive. Popcorn is so cheap to make yet they charge so much for it. Anyway I try to avoid the food and drink but over all it is a good theater complex and I find that watching movies in a theater is always much better than watching at home.
