I visited fie the first time on Tues to see the first 2 episodes of Miles from Nowhere and celebrate its airing on Sky TV the next day. What a lovely venue I loved the backyard garden and the special room where all the cast and crew gathered for photos.
Great venue and lovely staff. I've mainly experienced it as a gig venue and have always found it pretty great for that. The one film experience I had was good. It was wooden seats which weren't too comfortable but added to the vibe of the place I guess.

Great theatre that plays off-beat & classic movies year-round, as well as Film Festival faves; a treasure of West Auckland. Did you know there is a small bar outside in the alley? There is, and it's a great spot to chill out in after a Special Presentation. Keep on keeping on.
I was so impressed by what had been done to this venue. I hadn't been here for thirty years and was expecting the old run down theater that I used to go see Rocky Horror Show at. Instead it is a fantastic venue. Sound was great, bar was good, very happy to see Kevin Morby and I will try to make it to more shows here. Whoever reinvigorated this space did a great service to Avondale
Always something classic or interesting playing. The last 35mm film projecting cinema in NZ. Rennovated not so long ago, with a focus on updating the audio/visual equipment, yet retaining and polishing all of its charms to deliver that old-school, cinema experience. I always try to attend the Incredibly Strange 24hr Movie Marathon each year. This place is sacred; it is our church of cinema.
First time in many years. Intimate venue. We saw "The Convert" Great NZ movie
To hear songs like “Georgia on My Mind” and “My Way” performed live is a real treat. If you have friends or family that grew up listening to music by Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra, this event would be something very special to take them to!
Been to see a few movies here this year. Kind of like going back in time. They run classic movies like Enter the Dragon and National Lampoos Christmas Vacation. Not your typical theatre.
Made me feel like a kid again. Very old school setting that made me very nostalgic.
