Reviews
The hotel room was nice and renovated, however missing little niceties for the business traveller, no compendium unless you Q code in, no real milk, cheap tea and coffee. However real milk was supplied when requested. Extremely clean.nThe bar was shut at 8.15pm, despite the website stating 8.45pm. A drink was achieved only after returning to reception and showing that the bar wasn’t supposed to close until 8.45 pm. The room was traffic noisy.nHowever the food was delightful and the staff were excellent.nA nice hotel, however needs to try harder for the business traveller, However I enjoyed my stay.
I loved this place. Great value for the money. The staff is very nice and the food is great. The rooms are extremely clean and big, even luxury. The area is very quiet. They have their own pool, free to use for all guests. Air conditioner, tea and coffee in the room. The only small inconvenience was that the bathroom was smelling like food - as it was probably sharing the vent with the kitchen. I will definitely go again.
Overall I'd say a 3.5. Stayed for 2 nights and for the most part this place has a lot of pros going for it. I can see why they are a popular conference centre.nThe Pros:n1. Location was great, walking distance from waterfront and some nice local food places etc.n2. I had dinner on the first night, the food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced.n3. The employees were lovely and polite from the people I dealt with at reception to the lovely lad at dinner and even accommodated a change of dates with no hassle.n4. The room was spacious and clean.n5. Decent price for the room.nYoude think all of this would normally warrant a 4.5 or 5 star rating.nThe cons:nThe biggest reason my star raring is what it is was the bed. It was advertised as a super king and super comfortable. But it was really 2 king single mattresses that had been put together on a giant base. The centre had a slight raised and hard ridge which meant I couldn't really spread out or relax in the bed as a whole and i imagine if couples were booking they would find hard pressed to snuggle. The mattress also felt super thin and I woke up with a headache from a crook neck and a stiff back both mornings.nThe main reason you book a hotel is to relax and have a decent sleep. The service can be crap, the food meh, but if the bed is great then it makes or breaks the stay for me.
ProsnLocation was good. Spacious room. Nice staff, especially the housekeeping staff.nBed was comfortable. Mini fridge in the room was handy along with tea and coffee amenities. Wifi worked well.nnConsnFood - the restaurant is terrible. Not much choice overall. My ‘medium rare’ steak came pretty much mooing on the plate… my nephew ended up having an allergic reaction as the chef made pesto with peanuts which wasn’t quite clear. It would be nice having allergens on the menu considering how common allergies are. The house pinot noir was the lower shelf one for 55 dollars a bottle. The dinner was not worth the price.nCould be cleaner. The bath was quite dark and not scrubbed well. Could do with a bit of refreshment.nTV is very old with only a few channels, no netflix etc and no chrome cast option.nBit too pricey for what you get - though I am aware we visited during school holidays and ANZAC week
Close enough to town centre if you don’t mind walking a short distance.nFree parking, facilities are pretty old and definitely need some acoustic panels in the room.nFront desk is lovely, easy check in and check out, breakfast didn’t look attractive to me, outdoor pool is more of a kids water play area. Online images only for reference.nOverall a good stay if you are looking for somewhere in town with value of money.
