Hotel Armitage & Conference Centre

I stayed in the Mercure Tauranga formerly Hotel Armitage after its very recent refurbishment. I found it to be fantastic value for money for a family with young kids. In particular the breakfast was hot, kid friendly free for kids, I think under 12? and good value with Accor discount. Free parking on site is a bonus. Location is a short drive to the waterfront playground. Netflix and YouTube easily connected to the TV, wifi was fast enough to do some work on a laptop from the hotel. Lift access to the rooms was convenient for taking our own bags to the room. The doors auto-shut quite loudly so I tried my best to close them gently. Photos show the superior room which is a few extra dollars per night, I’m not sure what the difference is from the standard room. Maybe the bathroom is bigger - it was a good size with shower over a spa bath.nI will be booking here again next time we are staying in Tauranga!

Recently stayed here for work.nnRooms: The rooms are pretty standard. There was an overwhelming smell of cleaning product so I'd hate to think what they're covering up, however, I'm glad that it was cleaned. The bathroom has a terrible layout so be mindful with those who have some mobility restrictions. The beds were okay as wellnnFood: My favorite part of the stay. The food was actually delicious and they served our large group quickly.nnService: The lovely lady that checked us out was my absolute favourite. What a beautiful send off. The bar staff were top notch too. I saw a little confusion when they served our large table but overall, a fantastic experience.

Does what is says on the tin. Comfortable and affordable, and close to the hospitality district, allowing a short walk there and back. Comfortable beds, and all the amenities. Nice breakfast too. Would use again.

The location is in walking distance to Tauranga CBD, yet quiet even though it appears to be near a main road. The staff were all friendly and helpful. My room was large and spacious. The only downfall was the shower which had poor water pressure and kept going either too hot or too cold. I could also hear the neighbours television until quite late one of the nights I stayed. Apart from that I had a great stay and if I ever came back to Tauranga this is where I’d stay.

Review posted from partner’s account Do not stay here. I was recently placed here for work and it was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. They took almost an hour to find my booking and their customer service was horrendous. The rooms were average and they threatened to remove my belongings as they couldn’t find the extended booking, which there was clear evidence for. They do not care about people and are a money grabbing hotel. They hiked the prices and their receptionist cannot take feedback, and instead wanted to argue that she just doesn’t know any better. Do not stay here. Do not listen to their pathetic response or reasons and don’t waste your time.
