Good location, nice staff. Let down by the rooms. It's a while since I've stayed in a hotel where you could clearly hear next door having a conversation/using the loo/boiling the kettle/snoring/having a quickie/watching TV - it was like they were in with us. They weren't particularly loud neighbours, it was just that there's clearly no soundproofing at all. The windows are single glazed, and in the rooms overlooking the road, the traffic is loud. As are the air-con units and kitchen extractors down below the windows. And there's a gap of at least an inch under the room door, so everyone walking past down the hallway adds to the din. So, earplus all weekend to get any sleep. The bathroom - why situate the toilet so you have to sit at an angle on it because there's actually no room to fit your knees in between the toilet and the bath? And if you are going to fit it like that, at least make sure the shower screen that your guests end up looking at is clean. This one wasn't, it was really grubby round the bottom hinge and seal. And while the flush button worked, it was hard to press. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the hotel decor was quite nice. I wouldn't stay again though.
I had a great stay at Hotel Armitage in Tauranga. One staff member, Rukia, really stood out, professional, proactive, and genuinely caring. She went the extra mile, even arranging an omelette at breakfast when others said it wasn’t possible. Every hotel has a star, and at Hotel Armitage, it’s Rukia.
The hotel room was nice and renovated, however missing little niceties for the business traveller, no compendium unless you Q code in, no real milk, cheap tea and coffee. However real milk was supplied when requested. Extremely clean.nThe bar was shut at 8.15pm, despite the website stating 8.45pm. A drink was achieved only after returning to reception and showing that the bar wasn’t supposed to close until 8.45 pm. The room was traffic noisy.nHowever the food was delightful and the staff were excellent.nA nice hotel, however needs to try harder for the business traveller, However I enjoyed my stay.
Hotel was perfect for a work trip, the shower was very old and dated and very squishy but the room was fine and everything you could need. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, onsite parking is great as wells reasonable priced for location.
Worst customer service I’ve ever had!nMy boyfriend and I paid to stay just a night here. It was around 10/10:30pm and we were talking in our rooms with our iPhone playing music. A woman named May knocked on the door to tell us to “keep the noise down”. My boyfriend was very reasonable at the time of talking to her but did question what she meant of “keeping it down” as we were not yelling nor playing music off a loud speaker? If you’re paying for a room you should be able to talk in there. Her energy at the door was not pleasant.nWe passed the front desk a short while after to speak to someone about the situation. The other woman at the desk was more hospitable but felt as though she didn’t know how to deal with situation. That woman called May SHOULD NOT WORK IN HOSPITALITY. She was arguing with us at the front and being bluntly rude. Told us you can’t talk in your room after 11:30pm. Sorry what? Never heard that rule in a hotel before.nI’ve worked in hospitality my whole life and was shocked at May’s attitude. I have never been treated or spoken to like that by a staff member before.
