We had been given a night away as a gift from our family for our 50th wedding anniversary earlier this week.nWe had stayed here about 6 years ago and knew the units had been beautiful once but they were tired and sadly they are still the same.nWe thought it looked clean but there was a smell as if someone had heated food up and it just wasn't pleasant.nThe shower was amazing, the one great thing we can praise.nIn the morning we pulled back the sheets like we always do. In the bed on the top sheet at the bottom was what looked like dried out chocolate bits.nWe realised then that the top sheet hadn't been changed. Which led to other suspicions, had the bed been changed at all?nI don't like complaining but as we had come from a very clean motel in Kaikoura, there was no need for this.nIn the bathroom behind the door was where all the dirt and dust from washing the floor had been swept into.nI cleaned it and was annoyed that it had been missed. The vinyl flooring is worse for wear and could do with a very good clean.nThe units are well appointed and have been very nice but the owners/managers need to check the methods used for cleaning.nAn air freshener of some sort is really needed to freshen the rooms. If it hadn't been a gift we would have not stayed had we known about the bed.nWe are a mature couple who think if you support a business you deserve the best they can provide.
We loved our night at the Retreat nThe staff went above and beyond to satisfy our particular request. An excellent result. We'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for the delicious breakfast, great service and the clean spacious room.
Booked last minute for a night away and we were not disappointed. The service for us arriving late was wonderful, easy to follow instructions, and the heat pump and lights being left on for us was a nice touch. Lovely facilities at an amazing price. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was a lovely setting with friendly staff and a delicious selection of food and drinks. We will be back.
The rooms are great, albeit bright. The smoke alarm just above the bed seems to be all LED with a green light illuminating the room. The beds are soft and comfortable and bathrooms well appointed. The light from the smoke alarm kept me awake most of the night as it was so bright
Our next week to Otautahi will definitely see us bring our family here. The room was clean, big, and in walking distance to town.nThe restaurant was amazing history and stories all around the restaurant the ambience was beautiful.nThe Kai woow! I'm getting hungry thinking about it.nHubby loved his steak and the pepper sauce, he said, that was Real Pepper sauce!nMy butter chicken was scrumptious. The Dessert was a real joy to eat.nThank you for your Service
