Absolute value for money right here. If you need cheap accommodation in a prime location, this is 100% the spot to be. Cute little set up, amazing spot when you have great weather which we did. Location is within 5 minutes of everything you want. Joe the Receptionist is amazing, his service was unbeatable and a huge reason why I give them 5 stars. Thank you for your hospitality!
Really small rooms - I changed it to a solo room on the second day and it was so small that I barely couldn’t unpack my suitcase.. facilities were clean and the staff was friendly, but the guests were really loud at night and in the early morning, which made sleeping almost not possible. The first night there I had a room located directly in front of the kitchen and lounge on the first floor, it was really noisy! Second night on the ground level was a big better, but it was raining heavily so maybe all the people stayed inside as well. The location was okay for a two night stay, located about 10 minutes by foot away from the center, but I think I wouldn’t book this Haka Lodge again.
Despite people being normal volume the wooden floor transmits every single noise. The outside lights are kept on all night and the curtains don’t keep the light out. The room is small but warm and clean. Walkability: 8 minutes walk to the centre of town
It's located a bit outside the city centre, but within walkable distance. The staff was a bit standoffish but everything was clean. The kitchen area was really, really small and some people had to wait almost 30 minutes to start cooking. There was also little space to store your food and very little cutlery, so bring your own if you don't want to eat with your hands Walkability: About ten minutes to town or to he waterfront.
Rien d'extraordinaire dans cette auberge mais elle a tout ce qu'il faut. Des casiers plutôt larges dans la chambre prenez votre propre cadenas, un rideau et des prises dans le lit. L'auberge est plutôt bien placée dans la ville. J'y ai passé un bon séjourRooms: 4/5
This is a HOSTEL with some private rooms, not a hotel, and definitely not 4 star. Our 'studio queen room with private bathroom' has only one bedside table and bedside light. The room is very spartan with the absolute minimum of items. Not even the usual tea bags, coffee and milk. It is not nearly up to standard for the price paid. That said - it had a good bed, tv, and shower.
Great first day, but its gets horrible we stayed for 4 nights and booked half the place * for Taupo soccer* all the girls are mostly 10 and 11 on the 3rd night the place booked the other half to a bachelor party the night goes on and the men come back they are drunk so we stay in our rooms . They start banging on the doors so some of the dads come down to politely ask them to stop the party started throwing hand and the police got called the got taken to a new place but later that night they come back . Overall rooms were nice , location is beautiful but never coming back .
The double room was quite small, with nothing else than a small double bed and one night stand. No place for the luggage, just a bit of floor. The room was tidy though, so that was the plus. Unfortunately that can't be said of the common areas: both bathrooms & kitchen were in pretty bad condition. More cleanings per day & more kitchen towels to the kitchen would help a lot! The worst part was the noise during the night: yes they had the policy of cutting the noise down at 10:30 but there were still people yelling in the kitchen and yard. No sound insolation in the walls whatsoever , so be prepared with excellent ear plugs. Rooms: Too small for the price.
I really wanted to like this one, since we had such a great time in the one in Paihia, but it was challenging. We got 3 different rooms bc we decided to stay longer and longer and it was all sold out, not a problem so far. The dorms were ok, beds ok, but the locker is not practical at all. The twin room was a sauna and they didn’t have enough fans for all the private rooms. The last room was a studio and the curtain was falling apart and no soap. And the kitchen was quite dirty.
The place seems to have some sort of bug infestation in the toilets and spilling over into the kitchens and rooms, which are way too small and overcrowded given the number of people staying here. The kitchen doesn’t feel particularly clean. The beds are not the most comfortable but I liked how each bed has its own power outlet. The worst part is the noise which is intolerable. Despite having a no noise past 11:00pm policy there were drunken fools loudly shouting in the kitchen through the early hours, and since my room was adjacent to the kitchen, I ended up with little sleep. If they’re going to have a policy like that, they should enforce it.
