Te Puke Baby walked into Gilmours Tauranga expecting “just a quick look”... and somehow ended up wandering the aisles like it was 1991 again nnAnd honestly? That’s part of the magic.nnThe second those doors open, you get hit with this strange, comforting feeling that big modern supermarkets lost years ago. The old-school layout, the warehouse vibes, the towering shelves, the no-nonsense atmosphere stacked full of things you forgot even existed… it has that unmistakable 90s wholesale store feeling in the BEST possible way.nnNot fake nostalgia. Real nostalgia.nnThe kind where shopping somehow feels exciting again. Like stepping into a hidden treasure cave for food lovers, café owners, bulk buyers… and tiny snack hunters nnBut here’s the thing that really surprised Te Puke Baby…nnThe prices are actually GOOD.nLike… genuinely “wait a minute, that’s cheaper than I expected” good.nnAnd the range? Massive. One minute you’re looking at giant catering packs, the next you’ve discovered three snacks you suddenly can’t live without. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one item and leave mentally planning your next visit before you’ve even reached the checkout.nnThere’s something weirdly addictive about Gilmours Tauranga. It doesn’t try too hard. It doesn’t need flashy tricks. It just quietly does what it’s always done well — huge range, solid prices, and that authentic old-school wholesale atmosphere that so many places lost years ago.nnTe Puke Baby will absolutely be back… probably for “just one thing” again
Great experience every time I shop at Gilmours Tauranga. The store is always well stocked, pricing is competitive, and the range is exactly what you need if you’re running a business or buying in bulk.nnThe staff are friendly and actually helpful, not just standing around — they know where things are and get you sorted quickly. Checkout is fast even when it’s busy, which makes a big difference.nnEasy access, plenty of parking, and everything is laid out well so you’re not wasting time hunting for stuff.nnIf you’re in Tauranga and need bulk supplies, this is the place to go.
New Review: Updated from 1 StarnnI’d like to give a big shout-out to Dylan at the Gilmores Tauriko branch. He genuinely makes the business look good.nnOn multiple occasions in the past, we’ve been overcharged due to price variations where the sticker price says, for example, $15 per kilo, but we’re charged $20 per kilo at the till even though the sticker is scanned. This has happened to us numerous times.nnThis time, Dylan picked up on the pricing discrepancies before we paid and made sure they were corrected. That level of attention to detail and integrity really stood out. On top of that, he has a great attitude, plenty of energy, and comes across as very sharp and switched on. Staff like Dylan make a real difference to the customer experience and reflect very well on the business.nnPrevious Review: 1 StarnnPlease check your receipts. Every time we come here, we are overcharged. The price on the sticker is not what you pay. For example, it may say $13.99 per kg but you get charged $17 per kg, especially on meat. This happens almost every time.nnMost people probably get ripped off without realizing. We always check our slips and they’re often wrong. It honestly feels like the system allows an extra $20–$30 over payment to slip into the trolley each visit.nnAverage spend about $700 per month on meat there.
Staff here are awesome! Great prices for bulk buying. One of the staff helped us set up a new account and even gave my son an ice block!! Highly recommend coming here
Not Sure if anyone else has had issues this Dec. I bought a large $195 +gst complete Scotch fillet steak which had an expiry 26Jan26. Used 1st steaks off it boxing day, went to use again today 29th and it's smelly, greenish fat and sticky, not impressed
