Well here is another breakfast review or brunch if you fancy it. We were lost in the city near Ponsonby looking for a spot to eat before heading home and we were fortunate enough to stumble upon Foxtrot Parlour. Oh you never heard of it? Neither did we but so glad we did. I mean if you need to feed several picky eaters this could work. From breakfast burritos to pancakes to muesli. There something for everyone, even the kids. All types of baked goods, they had cinnamon rolls on our day delicious and coffee. Yes I know what place doesn't have coffee, but it's good coffee! Get there early if you want a seat though they got fairly busy on our day. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, to keep in mind if you fancy sitting in the sun. The staff was pleasant and quick with our food and even got my takeaway coffee ready in a jiff as we were leaving. Did I mention the great coffee. So to recap: Lost check; Hungry check; Want some great food with great atmosphere check, check and check. Find your way here, you will not be disappointed!!
There was a huge selection of baked goods including a few gluten free options, a nice brunch menu, lots of drinks to pick from including milkshakes!. Coffee was delicious ! Small sitting area so it may be hard to get a spotRecommended dishesCoffee and Tea
I had the lamb Moroccan meat pie it was fabulous. All the plates were smaller but very tasty. The coffee was average.
*Updated 17/4/22: Food and coffee are still awesome, however becoming expensive for what you get in comparison to other cafés. The menu can be misleading and didn't have prices for eggs on toast etc. Photo provided. Great little cafe, music good, staff friendly and efficient. Coffee was very good and cosy atmosphere. Only complaint is the rickety seating and tables.
Really average carrot cake, have had simply "ok" baked goods from there in the past but after today won't go back. Stodgy and tasted a few days old.
Wonderful as always, today was just coffees and scone and hot cross bun. All so tasty and fresh, will be back again for more!
Coffee was nice but this place was filthy and Full of flies. Even in the display cabinets landing on the food. Seats and tables were greasy. It's in dire need of a proper clean
Wow! Clearly I need to get out more. We discovered this place from The Urban List Auckland as one of the top 18 best doughnuts in Auckland. What a wonderful Cafe with a great ambience and touched in between other wonderful little shops. The staff were wonderful and friendly. The doughnuts that we came for were fun and messy and delicious. We had the Berry and caramel and vanilla custard flavour doughnuts which you inject yourselves and we also had a berry milkshake it was all wonderful. We loved the little cafe and would definitely go back again for more delightful treats that you could see in the cabinets and those pies look amazing so we will be back. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Excellent food. Very good coffee had a long black. A little higher on the price side but quality matched price
I usually frequent Bread & Butter, but thought I would give Foxtrot a try the other day. When we walked in, the place was reasonably busy but had plenty of staff behind the counter, and lots of beautifully presented food in the cabinet. After making our selections we patiently stood by the counter. No less than 3 staff made eye contact with us, but turned away and continued doing other things! It took another patron to point out us out before we got served. We then ordered a slice of the ginger loaf and the stuffed kumara, which looked devine. However once the food arrived I was a bit stunned to see we had been served the crust of the loaf despite there being plenty of the middle left when we ordered and what appeared to be only half a kumara see photo when full length kumara was displayed on the cabinet. The loaf was flavoursome, but being the crust it was quite dry and definitely didn't meet the expectations of the moist display loaf in the cabinet : the kumara tasted amazing... But I found it very awkward that we saw a staff member serve another table a large and full length stuffed kumara, which left us feeling a bit short changed. Tried to flag down a staff member to ask about this, but after 2 attempts I gave up they seemed very very focused on doing their specific tasks.... Giving Foxtrot a 2 because the variety of food displayed looked really good and the taste of the kumara was praise worthy; however the service was lacking and I feel the food displayed in the cabinet set false expectations compared to the reality of what was served to our table.
