Outstanding Golf and Awesome Staff!! I just spent 2 days enjoying phenomenal golf and excellent food at this resort! The Awesome location complimented by stunning weather provided me with an amazing experience! I have to make special mention of the Outstanding service I received from Lance Hatfield and his staff who ensured that I got the maximum amount of golf in during my stay! Lance made my trip especially memorable and even gave me a ride to the ferry after I checked out! Lance clearly understands the meaning of Customer service!! My Villa was huge and spotless and my meals were great! I am definitely planning a return trip soon!!
Had a fantastic time at the Formosa golf Resort. Rooms are really well placed and the course is just beautiful! Really friendly service desk staff and sorted us out pretty quickly when we had an issue. The restaurant food was pretty average. Overall, great time at the resort.Rooms: 5/5
Great location & views! Horrible service & bed bugs!! We booked 2 nights with a big party but the service was atrocious! Called in to book dinner & were told no booking required just rock up! On the night when we tried to get a table at 7pm the attendant said you’re a big group and we can’t offer you a dinner menu but only a grazing menu! There was 9 of us! They weren’t busy just one other couple was in the restaurant. After a 15min discussion they finally agreed to serve us but the attitude we got for rest of the night was horrible! The room had cobwebs, broken ironing boards & some of my colleagues couldn’t turn their aircons on! Thats not all! I woke up the next day with bed bug bites all over my body! Definitely would not be returning & definitely won’t be holding any more events there!
Played golf today, 17 June 2023. The course should be closed while it recovers. It is a complete bog and a responsible golf course would be closed. I’ve never experienced it in my life. You can barely walk on some holes. We stopped at nine and asked for a partial refund and were flatly denied. We paid top dollar for 18 holes and were bitterly disappointed that our dissatisfaction was completely dismissed by the staff there. Unbelievable!!. We only wanted to be compensated for the holes we didn’t play and would have blown all that and more in the clubhouse. We expected it to be wet due to the rain we have had but in saying that there has been 8 days of sunshine. We dearly wanted to play 18 but in our view the course is currently not fit for purpose. The 1 star is for the view. If you phone in to play and they say it’s wet but open DONT play. It will be a bog.
Played Golf and dinner with my wife, the couse is beautiful and views were second to none. and I’ve been around the world a few times!!! The dinner and bar staff were well presented friendly and helpful, Our meals were great and well priced. And a special mention to the golf shop staff who were Great and helped us get out on the course for a golf day to remember. Cheers Lance and the boys! Great day out, the course is continuously improving after each visit. Well worth going to play, stunning layout one of the best course layouts in NZ and the views off the coastline are unmatched. Great spot not too far of a drive out from the city. You can see there is real promise for this place to be a booming golf, events and getaway hub for the weekend and trips away.
We stayed here with our kids over Christmas period. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are big which was nice. And staff friendly. The reason we won’t be staying again unless things change: The cleanliness isn’t good. the bathroom had spider webs and spiders in them! And other bugs on the floor. and the toilet and floors were pretty filthy . The cleanliness didn’t improve during our stay either. Maybe something to work on Rydges. Please message me and I will send pictures.
Very lovely stay. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. A gorgeous location, and breakfast was just right. Rooms are a bit dated, but large and roomy and the outlook more than makes up for it.Rooms: 4/5
We recently stayed at the hotel for couple of nights. The stay was pleasant, however I wouldn’t call this a resort in any sense. The villas are decent size but definitely not villas in terms of size and amenities. Couple of slippers and bathrobes would have been a nice touch to it. Also the entrance of the villas were quite dirty with leaves and spider webs mangling around in the corner of the doors. Would have been nice if these were cleaned prior to your guests arriving. Also the staff at the front desk seem a little demotivated and not so friendly and approachable. The 19 restaurant also needs a bit of revamp as the food is just ok for the inflated price we had to pay. You can get better food at almost half the price in restaurants around Auckland. The breakfast buffet again was mediocre. The eggs were quite watery and we had to tell the staff that certain items need refills as they weren’t really being proactively checking the buffet. Not a professional resort manner if you ask me. Also the buffet could do with some fresh fruits, seeing that we are in the summer season here. Sorry but stay was just ok. Not a Rydges type of quality in any sense and definitely not what we were expecting.
One of the best layouts and courses around. Over the last couple of years iv seen it get better and better after the old owners let standard slide. Services are great lead by none other than “Mr Service” himself Lance Hatfield in the Pro A must play course.
